Ute bowl at #10… BYU bowl??? Bottom of the pile.

EagleMountainUteParticipant
So glad we get a B1G matchup.

Our ADs need to leave that game with a committment to play a H-H series, and soon. Our next interesting OOC game is Baylor in 2024.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
Yeah we just have to accept the OOC for now. Harlan needs to get Scott fired first.

Interesting takeaway that people want to see if UCF is for real. Great that the Holiday Bowl is generating some significant national interest.
Saw another article where one writer tried to rank the games according to his interest. It was highly slanted toward which would most likely be high-scoring shoot-outs. I guess the video-game crowd wants to see video game games.

How big is Northwestern’s alumni base? I have a feeling Chicagoland is driving our bowl up to top 10 status.

Northwestern has a national alumni base….and they’re wealthy/ money is not an issue. They’ll be flying in from around the country.
The 1996 NW Rose bowl team filled 70% of the stands.

MineralUteParticipant
Highly doubt it. The Utah side of the stadium is 80% sold out (estimate based on quick glance at available seats on ticketmaster). The Northwestern side of the stadium has thousands of tickets – there are whole sections in the upper bowl with not one ticket sold. We will outnumber them 2-1 at the game.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
They are still waiting for a money transfer from their offshore accounts.

OMG it takes forever feeding those bills through the feeder at the car wash.

Northwestern has a great business school and being a private school their students generally come from wealthy families, so, indeed they are a wealthy fan base. Midwesterners like the bowl games as a treat to get out of the snow and cold into some warmer climes. I don’t think that they are going to show up like Wisconsin or Michigan fans would, they may be more milquetoast on football like Stanford fans, or something — for many years football at NWern was a bottom 10 team. Maybe they’ll all jet in at the last minute looking for some fun on New Years Eve Day after they’ve had their last pork belly futures contract transaction of 2018.

They had a HUGE following at the Jazz Arena a few years ago for the Big Dance. (It was of course their first ever trip).
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
Oh yeah that poor Northwestern fan that was sobbing and they kept putting him on TV. Felt terrible they were filming that.

That year was an exception (as you said, their first trip). Doug Colins and Juia Louis-Dreyfus took the headline for the Northwesterns fans. In fact, saw them in the stands again at Fullerton when they beat the Utes last month.

NW also has one of the best theater/film schools along with Journalism. Many alumni live in CA.
Check out this star studded alumni list.
