Oklahoma State was really, really bad but I did like that Smith finally tried a lineup with some actual size.
      Mike 6’7
      Gabe 6’5
      Wahlin 6’8
      Ezra 6’7
      Lovering 7’1

Dawes, Little, Erickson, Lohner, Mason Madsen, Keller off the bench.
I hope Smith sticks with this lineup.
Gotta have size and length to compete against the big boys.
Did anyone notice that Smith and lead assistant Eilert seemed to be arguing a lot? I think it centered on Dawes but not positive.
Smith doesn’t like Dawes- is constantly shaking his head and admonishing him while other guys blow assignments or make dumb plays and they get a butt pat.
Smith clearly loves Erickson and continues to give him big minutes which is a mystery to many fans.
I’ll admit I was down on Wahlin but he has proven to be very multi dimensional and if he can add scoring punch he will be a huge factor.
Wish Lovering could make something other than a dunk but he does always seem to be among the team leader is plus/minus.
Will be interesting to see if this new starting five can handle a physical, athletic team that plays pressure defense.

FWIW – I don’t like Smith and I’m constantly shaking my head at his terrible recruiting, his personnel and rotation decisions, poor attention to defense, free throw shooting etc, and his utter lack of self awareness.

Take the most athletic players and let them play. Height doesn’t matter if you can’t guard the other players or get a rebound. Recruit athletes and develop them.

Had that rare time when a Ute player (Dawes) was having his way against an opponent with no answer for him. (about 4 dunks in a few minutes)

But he came out during a time out and seemed to be getting a lecture from the coach.

Craig Smith is Utah’s men’s basketball Achilles heel. Already four years in and the program IMO is worse off than when Coach K was here. Can’t fire his ass fast enough.

It was nice to see us play a team that was clearly worse than us for a change! Wahlin played like he did back in high school. A very nice game for him on both ends! Good to see. Will someone please explain Erickson to me? I bet there are at least 20-25 Utah high school players right now that are better than him. I don’t get it.
