Looks like he’s out for tonight’s game. Number 1 key for the game tonight imo is getting pressure on Mertz early. Mertz makes mistakes when pressured. A couple turnovers or 3-and-outs would make Barnes’/Johnson’s lives significantly easier.

I’m also the starting center for Florida tonight.

Pretty big loss for them, actually. He’s the only true starter that returned on the O-line, and was one of the more experienced ones. Now their entire O-line will essentially be new, and their backup C hasn’t played. Their O-line depth also looks really thin tbh. If our D-line is relatively healthy and plays as well as we think they can, I think the can really limit Florida’s run game, and get good pressure. Mertz has been bad against top 25 teams, especially under pressure. If we can limit their run game without having to stack the box, their entire game plan falls apart.

About two weeks ago they said he likely would not play. The backup has had a few weeks to get reps with the starting offensive line. Nonetheless, this is a big hit for Florida.

Thanks for posting this. Let’s bring even more home field loudness to throw off the snaps!

If Junior Tafuna is able to play it will really help… Our other DTs are said to be doing extremely well also so maybe not to far of a drop off but still wish our best player to face off against their backup
