What do you expect from this team in the next five years? Keeping KW, I would say we see one division win and no conference title. So our best finish would be top 15-20 with an Alamo or Holiday bowl berth, which is respectable.
Are you guys/gals expecting better? -
gUrthBrooksParticipant
Wow! It cuts both ways. If KW leaves, are you expecting better than the Ore St. years after Mike Reilly left?
Gosh, I love these daiily discussions regarding the man who is one of the main reasons we got into the PAC12. And no, it wasn’t just Urban Meyer, Kyle was running the defense in 2004 and it was pretty damn good then too.
Even if you’re right in all your arguments that Utah could do a little better than someone else, do you disagree that Kyle has bought himself some time for taking us into the PAC12, beating the rival EVERY year, his willingness to role the dice on a more prolific offense, and the continual selling out of Rice Eccles?

ragtownuteParticipant
Who said I was ever advocating to get rid of him?
Assuming you have about the same expectations then?-
gUrthBrooksParticipant
Here’s a website link that highly suggests you want to get rid of him, mainly because it’s all you talk about:

Here comes Hammer droppin the hammer!

ragtownuteParticipant
I just used Hammer’s link. You guys should too and actually read my posts for the actual assertions I’m clearly making before you go slapping each other on the ass in celebration.
I’m a Ute just like you guys and I’m not trying to slam on anyone or our football program. I have a legitimate questions about the expectations we have of Kyle and the team. Just because you may not like the facts that I’m pointing to or the questions I’m asking doesn’t mean they aren’t worth looking at or evaluating objectively.-
gUrthBrooksParticipant
First off, f**k you for saying “KW fan-boys” – that was a disparaging comment. Second. Now you just barely say, “I’m not trying to slam on anyone.” I don’t buy it. You received a lot of down votes for disrespecting those on this board with a different perspective – you did it in a bellitling way.

ragtownuteParticipant
So salty and sentimental around here! If “fan-boy” hurt your feelings, I apologize for being too rough with your egos.
Hammer you’re a tough guy, so relax.

Or maybe my entire point is that people need to have REALISTIC expectations of him and accept the fact that we are going to be a perfectly average to above average power 5 team based on the results that KW has had in REALITY.
Forget about all the “if this, so close, still building, now we have an offense” talk that gets people thinking we are going to repeat 2008 or annually compete for a conference championship. We have 1 conference championship with Kyle as the head coach. Now we have 5 teams in the league as good as TCU and BYU from the MWC days. Why the hell do people think we are going to be better in the PAC than we were in the MWC with the same coach?I’ll happily take 5-6 conference wins a year. That’s what I can expect from Kyle, and frankly what I would expect from any coach over the long term in this program.

In the next 5 years, I expect two division titles and a Pac-12 championship. If Taylor ends up working out as OC, I think Whittingham can accomplish that. I also think he can have us in the top 20 three of the next 5 seasons.
-
UteFanaticParticipant
That seems…very unrealistic. Not even USC has been able to accomplish two division titles and a P12 championship in the six years since the P12 was formed.
I would say a division title within the next 5 years would be a realistic expectation.
Sorry, maybe I’m pessimistic, but I just don’t see Utah having more success than USC has had.
-
UteThunderParticipant
USC has also had 4 different coaches over the last 7 seasons. (Kiffin, Orgeron, Sark, and Helton)
I wouldn’t expect any school that is going through that many coaches in such a short span to have sustained success. Then you throw in the scholarship sanctions they had to deal with the first couple of years after the Pac-10 expanded, and it becomes even more understandable that USC hasn’t experienced the success I laid out.

EagleMountainUteParticipant
Not even close to realistic.

With Chip Kelly joining the Pac 12 South I wouldn’t expect any division wins in next 5 years though what do I know as I would have bet big money that Utah would win the South before Colorado.

Those “posts” are not hammer’s they are bots. If you look at your own post history you probably have some, so do I, but they are filtered sort of like spam from posting on the main board. Something like that, I’m sure Tony can explain it better

ladyinred please tell me where I can find one of your “bot” posts. That previous image of the now former UH user was a poor photoshop job.
-
ladyinredParticipant
Oh really? Fooled me. That page he posted looked super familiar though, like something I’ve seen months ago in my own activity list. It would be something weird like ”ladyinred created the topic viagra” or whatever. But of course I can’t find anything like that now so I am no help. =/

No worries. Any and ALL users keep an eye out for fishy stuff and let me know if you spot something odd.
