They had already dived on Nebraska’s starting TE open field after the ball was thrown out of bounds, Lapuaho’ed Boise State, and a number of other alligator rolls, helmet to helmet and late hits throughout the season. It was a team culture. Agreed that Hacketts was best, but in the case of Bronco’s BYU teams, that was totally deserved. Hopefully they are cleaner under Kalani. So far, that seems to be the case.
I’m glad he’d said that. It NEEDED to have been said. Like you’d listed, the tdS has a LOOOOONG rap sheet of “dirty” play, and they needed to be called out publicly over it.
I will say however, that since Sitake arrived, a LOT of their signature “dirty play” appears to have been cleaned up. Sure, they’ll still take their shots at us, but it’s nowhere near as bad as it used to be under Crowton and mendenmidajor.
