At WSU he used to field fan questions, one was about who would win in a brawl among Pac-12 coaches, not quite as funny, but Kyle gets a lot of credit..

I remember a game about 8-10 years ago in Rice-Eccles.  Utah jumped out to a 21-0 lead early in the first quarter (memory fails me but I seem to recall a combination of non-offensive scores and length of the field plays from scrimmage).  Looked like a massive blowout was in store. 

During the media timeout following our third TD, Mike called the entire team, every single player, into a huge huddle and started hollering at them and I noted to ohters around me “He’s trying to rally his troops” and damned if they didn’t come back and win that game.  Certainly was a gut punch to Utah, but had to admire their coach for being able to get his team to not give up, stay focused, and get the victory.

Hopefully he gets well soon.

That was a painful game to lose.  But at the same time, it showed that games aren’t over until they are over.
