I’m fascinated by all the crowing from those people. So, I wanted to look at a “pure talent” perspective. Star ratings by rivals for the top 16 offensive players for each school.
QB’s: Williams (3 stars) vs Mangum (4 stars).
Advantage BYU. BUT, if you look at play vs P5, it’s pretty even, although Mangum has only dreamed of having a game like Williams vs USC.
RB’s: Shyne (NR) and Moss (3 stars) vs Canada (3) and Tolutau (3). Talent wise, adv BYU. But, again, Shyne has shown more on the field than anyone.
OL: Utah (17 stars, 14 starters) vs BYU (11 stars, 8 starters). This is where Utah has a huge advantage. They have a lot more talent, a much better OL coach and will face a much weaker DL than BYU. Yet, this is where a lot of BYU fans are thumping their chest the hardest. “We have EXPERIENCE”. When you have three experienced OL with 2 stars between them, give me talent. Oh, and our “worst” OL? Uhatafe, who will be playing on Sunday’s in a year.
TE: Handley vs Laulu-Pututau, Bushman and Balderee. 3 stars vs 5 stars. BYU can only dream of having a guy like Handley.
WR: Utah (20 stars) vs s**ts (11 stars). Again, we destroy them in this.
So, we have more raw talent. We have better coaches. We’ve beat them for the last 20 years 70% of the time.
Yet, they are going to lay it to us this fall.
Ok.
If people continue to no show me, I’ll do the defense later and then an offense vs defense.
