Bad news: I just don’t see Utah in the mix. In light of the circumstances this team is dealing with, it’s really not important bad news.
The on-the-field issues aren’t the issues this team is dealing with anymore. And it’s strange to me that some folks seem to be under the impression a bye week is sufficient time for this team to deal with a real-life crisis.
What’s important is locating and prosecuting Aaron Lowe’s murderer(s) and really nothing else. No amount of sentiment to dedicate on-the-field play to #22 glosses over the high probability that members of this football team were present during the altercation at the party and are now part of an active murder investigation.
I’m sick of gun violence in this country and Aaron needs justice and his family needs justice and retribution – not wins in honor of his memory. And it wouldn’t surprise me if football (let alone winning) is nowhere near the front of many of our players minds.
It’s not different than any year really. The woes me attitude that is permiating the fan base is troubling because it is the Pac12, anything can happen week to week. The Utes have not exactly looked good this year but I for one will wait to lose before proclaiming these teams will roll the Utes before a down of football is played.
If I’m Whitt I’m paying very close attention to each student athlete. With only 4 games played so far- I could call it a season and let everybody red shirt and return next year. Obviously the team mates, leaders and captains will say they want to play, and they want to play for #22, but if their head isn’t in the classroom or at practice, the seasons over.
