EUGENE, Ore. – Former Utah track and field standout Grayson Murphy placed sixth overall in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase finals at the U.S. Olympic Trials Thursday night at Hayward Field.
Murphy, a five-time All-American as a Ute, clocked in a time of 9:25.55, which was 0.18 seconds shy of matching her personal-best time she set Sunday that earned her a spot in the finals. Murphy’s impressive week at the Olympic Trials ended just seven seconds behind the third-place finisher in an extremely fast race, which saw the top-two athletes break the meet record.
