They had a good win last week, so the AP voters have some recency bias. Their schedule is horrendous and they still have to play two ranked teams in the regular season and a very tough Ohio State (or rematch with Penn State) in the B10 Championship.
If Utah wins out and beats Oregon, we’ll be ranked ahead of Minnesota.

gothamuteParticipant
Not if they’re the undefeated Big10 champ who beat Ohio St…
(but I agree that seems incredibly unlikely)
-
UteFanaticParticipant
If they can do that, they deserve a playoff spot!

The real positive in all of this is the perception of Oregon nationally. Beating them will make Utah look good. Just sucks it is on Friday in Santa Clara when no one will be at the game. One of those perception things is when you have a packed stadium watching the two teams it makes it seem more important on television.

How did it happen that it is not Saturday? Don’t want to compete with the other P5 Championship games?

Larry Scott… Same as 9am games and they wonder why fan attendance is down.

Fox I think owns it or something so they decide.

2019 P12 championship game airs on ABC.
Also, if a pair of 11-1 Utah and Oregon teams meet with playoff at stake, game will be packed and set the new attendance record.

The game time is horrible. Driving to Santa Clara at that time of day is ridiculous. It won’t be crowded compared to other P5 conferences.

Helicopter shuttle?

This topic was discussed ad nauseam last year. This year’s potential scenario is completely different. Oregon and Utah are on path to best PAC12 Championship game scenario ever. It will all turn out fine. Anyone who is attending the game, but driving to Santa Clara during rush hour will have planned poorly. Sounds like you won’t be there if it happens…bummer.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
Planned poorly? My buddy lives like 30 miles from the stadium. He estimated that it would have taken four hours just to get to last year’s game. You can’t plan for s**t with four hours. Why give up your entire day for the game when you can just watch it at home?
He is looking forward to it moving to Vegas and he lives in the bay area.

alUmnUsParticipant
Hyperbole much? My office is in Redwood City and it doesn’t take 4 hours to navigate to Santa Clara. There’s plenty of ways to appropriately plan to get to Levi’s Stadium on time for a game – even on a Friday. There were about 15 thousand Utes fans who got there just fine last year and there will be more this year if Utes make it and certainly hoards of Duckies.

Take two days off work for out of towners. The entire day if you are local.

I would LOVE to go to that game, but I won’t have enough time to get off work, fly to Santa Clara, check into my hotel, and get to the game. At best I’d have just barely enough time to get off work, fly to Santa Clara, and watch the end of the 4th-Qtr at one of the airport’s sports bars.
Moving the CCG to Las Vegas will most certainly up the attendance for that game, but we’re gonna need to see that game played on a Saturday too.
