I’m of the belief that the only way we have a chance is if we score a defensive touchdown (or two)

That is plausible. Retzlaff delivers some picks and the Utes are capable. Time for our yearly pick six!

I legit had a dream last night that I forgot about the game and turned it on near the end; the score was 42-0 Utah.

we play better underdog. This is probably the first game since the oklahoma state game that most other people think we will lose.

I am still ready for a heart break though. Go Utes!

Nobody believes in them, nobody is picking them. They’ve had two weeks to figure something out. This team has a lot of talent! Put the pieces together and run the ball and get some passes out to Singer and Kuithe. BYU has a mountain of pressure on their shoulders. Play it tough and they that pressure will build.
I think two things will happen, we will get this win with another classic moment. Or we get blown out.

I still stand by that fact that on paper Utah is the more talented team in almost every category. Have they performed that way? No, a big hell no. But the talent is there. If these negative voices have been kicked to the curb and these guys come out fired up we have a chance. Our Defense is ranked top 15 nationally, our defense will keep us in it. Retzlaff is mediocre against man coverage and that’s what we exclusively play. If we can capitalize on a short field or a turnover of some sort we will be right in this.
As we all know if there is one thing in this rivalry it’s that the records go out the window when this game comes around.
Maybe i’m just being too optimistic but I think we truly have a chance, regardless of who we have at QB. We just have to put it all together.

We used to be man coverage, but the last 2 seasons has been more zone.

We don’t have a lockdown corner taking half the field away like Johnson or CPIII, Hell I’ll take a Bobbie or Guidry, and that has hurt us schematically ..

Might be one thing that could help Utah and/or hurt BYU. Utah had massive expectations this year and when we started struggling against Arizona (all those early trips into the Red Zone where we failed to put the ball over the goal line) it all started to unravel. All the pressure is on BYU tomorrow and Utah is just playing for pride (and perhaps a trip to a very low level bowl game). Perhaps Utah can play loose, just have some fun, and come out on on top.

For those who weren’t around in the 70’s and 80’s, this is the feel going into this game. Just give me a ’78 or ’88.

You’re giving BYU too much credit. They are a flawed team and things had to go their way to get to 8-0. The Utes only need +1, maybe +2 in turnovers and they win this game. At home and with a still-good defense that’s entirely likely.

I watched that entire OKST-zoob game & the zoobs were very much lucky to pull it out….AND that was in Provo.

Definitely a flawed team & only favored -3, but obviously playing with a more complete team.

We need a special defensive performance & turnovers/sacks….I just believe our O is only good for 17 points, unfortunately.

Nobody is giving Utah a chance or picking them to win. Utah always plays better as the hunter. Whittingham doesn’t want to lose to TDS nor to coaches he helped develop. Given those factors and the rivalry I like Utah’s chances. In this game nothing will surprise me.
