ParticipantThree months ago I’d 100% say this would be perfect for Scalley. But now that the job is open, I’m so glad he’s already the HC in waiting. It appears my talk was just talk. I want Scalley at Utah.
But if I was Jay Hill, I’d be on the phone throwing my hat in the ring. What a great job for someone wanting a stable, long term gig you can win at or a stepping stone.
If Hill was winning 10+ games a year he’d be set for life. And if Scalley did stumble…we’d be ok as well.
And it would f**k BYU over, which I’m always up for.

ParticipantIt really is a good gig. Sitake should take it.

ParticipantTim Skipper, a well regarded coach and Fresno alum, is the interim coach. McBride’s SIL, John Baster is on the staff.

ParticipantI’m not confident Jay Hill would even be considered. But holy cow this is a great job. Fertile recruiting grounds, great history, only Boise State to really compete with. I see someone like Eric Bienemey, D’Anton Lynn, Jeff Choate.

ParticipantJoking of course. I was actually born in Walnut Creek while my parents lived in Tracy. Moved just before I was 3 though. I actually have not been to Fresno, but my BIL grew up there and has mixed feelings. Mostly the summer heat and that it’s not that developed is the feeling I get are the detractors from my SIL, but she could be biased by in-law relationships haha.

ParticipantTime to bring Pat Hill back from retirement! He’s still alive, and younger than John Robinson when he’d decided to get back into coaching at UNLV.

ParticipantI’ve always though Fresno was underrated, should say got a weird rap. I grew up in the Bay Area, gateway to many great parks and recreation. It is kind of far from a lot of bigger cities but “California” far isn’t really that far and Fall through Spring is pretty nice. It’s a pretty sneaky underrated job. You succeed and you get noticed quickly.

ParticipantMy CA cousin says UC schools are where it’s at and they’d rather have their kids go out of state than to a poo poo CA St. school. Jokes. I agree with others that Fresno St. and Boise St. are 2 G5 schools that can launch a HC career into a good P4 job when they come available.
