My prediction is that Utah squeaks out some ugly wins the next few weeks and Cam comes back against BYU. I don’t think Utah loses another game this regular season.
I know the Cam Rising situation is looking ugly right now, but Utah still has the most talented overall roster in the Big 12. You guys have been a depressed bunch the last couple weeks but I think things will be looking up starting this Saturday.

Ted LassoParticipant
Well scratch that, you guys might lose one more game to Iowa St. But two losses might still get you in the championship.

If Cam is already back when we play ISU in SLC I’d be very confident in us winning.

We’d all feel better if you guys would lose a game. Can you take care of that for us?

I would love to see BYU beat Arizona this Saturday but I have battered fan syndrome and unfortunately I’ve seen them choke far too many times in my lifetime.

Weird that a byu fan is more optimistic about the Utes’ season than I am. Go Utes.

That’s a classy post Lasso. Most BYU fans like to rub in the Cam loss and beat their own drum. Ute hub has gotten pretty ugly after the Arizona loss. It will either stir the hornets nest or we will settle in with an 8 win season. Thanks for a rational post.

Ted LassoParticipant
Yeah I don’t really hate Utah. I usually want them to win except when they play BYU. But the main reason for my post is I feel like fans naturally have more pessimism about their own team especially after a loss. It’s been even worse for you guys because of the weird lack of injury info about Cam Rising. But most outsiders still view Utah as one of the teams to beat in the Big 12. There’s a reason why they’re still ranked as high as they are.

Who remembers the last time Utah played ISU? As I remember, Utah set the record for points scored @ ISU’s stadium and Jordan Wynn looked like Tom Brady. That is an impressive record given that ISU had been a long-time conference mate of teams like Oklahoma, Texas, T A&M, etc.
Good times.

I was camping on BLM land outside of Capitol Reef National park for that game. Listened to it on my AM radio of my car!

Just out of curiosity- would someone please explain the down vote? Remembering a great Utah performance from the past made someone unhappy?
I don’t understand.

Belli, I think I can speak for a lot of us when I say, “ew”.

Utebacker – I know many on here hate my idea. Call me nostalgic. The one thing I did not enjoy about the PAC12 was no true rivalry.
Growing up in Michigan, where UofM had “The Game”, Mich St, the little brown jug. All as long standing rivals made the games special.
Those years when the conference championship came down the “Holy War” took the game to another level.
I do not mean this as an insult but many will take it as so. This is part of the reason Utah football will never be on the grand stand of college football. Or whatever remains of college football over the next few years.

I don’t know, beating Washington, UCLA, Oregon & especially USC did WAY more for me than beating TDS. We have none of those “great win” opportunities in the XII.

Sure it’s a possibility especially given that Cam could return spark a run for us but as it stands now anyone can with the conference. It’s WIDE open, I don’t think any B12 team goes undefeated. None of the teams are that good but a few are strong and I think they’ll trip each other up. That’s why it’s anyone’s league still as opposed to Utah being favored on Utah’s merits, of which there are vanishingly few at the moment.

I like your optimism for the Utes. At this point I have them losing 3-5 games and going to a toilet bowl. The offense is straight @$$.
-
The Miami UteParticipant
Without a healthy Cam running the offense, well, you’re not wrong. And another thing, if such an event comes to pass, I predict that the Utes’ contingent of traveling fans will be severely diminished. I was talking to a few people at the Las Vegas Bowl last year and there was some sincere heartburn about the cost of traveling, even to a nearby place like Vegas, to watch such a putrid display on the field.

I would be pretty upset to spend all of that money on that game too. Even if it is just a car ride down for most people. Tickets, food, lodging, it all adds up. They don’t need to win every game, but if you expect people to put money towards it, it had better be a good product.
