UtahParticipant
We play Oregon, Stanford, UW and WSU.
Also, we play two conference road games back to back…not once, but TWICE.
Utah: @WSU/Stanford and @UCLA/ASU. 2-2
Colorado: has one back to back road games. 0-2
USC: no back to back road conference games. No Oregon or UW.
UCLA: @Oregon/ASU: 0-2. Also, why does ASU get everyone on the second game of two road games?
Stanford: @Cal/UCLA. Upcoming.
Cal: @WSU/USC. 1-1.
Oregon State: @Stanford/UW. 0-1 so far.
Oregon: @WSU/Arizona. 0-2.
WSU: none
UW: @UCLA/Oregon. 1-1.We were ROYALLY screwed with scheduling this year.
Why were we given two b2b road games and WSU and USC none? Why did we get all the top teams in the north? The PAC-12 SUCKS at scheduling. It’s ridiculous.
It’s also crazy how EASY USC’s schedule was.

But USC had to play us. We saw how that went.

This is a really good breakdown, Utah. Thanks for posting. Where are we ranked in terms of SOS nationally now?
Another way to compare would be to look at BYUs 2020 schedule (their most difficult to date). They have 6 P5s, 5 G5’s and an FCS school. Granted, they do play the historically better G5 programs.
For reference, Utah played 9 P5s, 1 G5, 1 FCS and one independent, who consider themselves P5. So, that means 10 P5’s, 1 G5 and one FCS this year.
P5s – 4 more schools, also using poster Utahs point of two road stretches vs. their 1, advantage Utah
G5s – Same school, UNI, equal
FCS – Top tier Weber St. trumps Northern Alabama, advantage Utah
This is not intended to be a Utah is better post. BYU has a great schedule on deck and continues to improve it in Independence. This is meant to serve as another way to compare our schedule this year to someone else, especially since the buzz has been that their schedule is “insanely difficult”.
This supports Utah’s original post that things were crazy this year.

UtahParticipant
BYU’s scheduling and results is yet another example of why a G5 should never be in the playoff. They haven’t earned it and wouldn’t be undefeated with a tougher schedule
Putting a G5 in the playoff completely screws over a P5 for playing a tough schedule.

I loved our game against Alabama and Pitt was before my time, but I have to say that your argument about us not deserving to go as G5s at the time is a good point.

PAC12 made it easy for USC to win but they blew it against Texas. Look to the mystery overruled in the headquarters.
-
UtahParticipant
Yeah, the more you look at USC, the more pathetic they look this year.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
Larry Scott defended that call three separate times in the media but then changed policy. Asinine. USC fans think they deserve it tho so it’s all good.
-
COFfrom83Participant
they don’t call it the University of Spoiled Children for nothing.

Brichaute49Participant
Without that blown call WSU would be undefeated and in the discussion for CFP. So yeah, we had a very tough schedule this year and here we are possibly going to the PAC championship game. I’ll take it.

The “blown” call would have actually resulted in a Wazzu player being ejected. A Wazzu player earholed JT Daniels while he was taking a knee. This is the play that was overruled by some guy that isn’t a ref. This could have resulted in USC having a better game early. This play is the reason Gustin’s targeting wasn’t called.
The other “blown” call would have had Utah beating Wazzu so the point is moot. It all evens out in the end.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
The defense of the Gustin hit was what Scott did three different times. Didn’t the hit on Daniels occur earlier in the game? The one from Gustin I think stalled a drive and was just awful.
