But undoubtedly BYU is an excellent university, despite our disdain towards it.
Eh, be careful with that one. It really depends on what field we’re talking about. Obviously every university has fields they excel at and others where they’re not as highly regarded, but BYU-Provo Campus has maybe some of the wildest swings in higher ed.
For example, their accounting and business programs are among the top in the country. But beware of their science programs. There are a considerable number of employers out there who will not consider graduates from any BYU school for scientific positions because of what they teach/don’t teach.
Also, their long-standing issues with academic freedom and AUP censuring alone probably disqualify them from being considered an “excellent” university.
