Everybody wants a game called as fairly as possible. You want the right call made live as much as possible but these video reviews are getting out of hand.

I attended the Washington and USC games last season. I remember the video reviews being ridiculous. Combined with late game times you get all this added time added to an already long night. Maybe I am being bitch but good hell 2-3 am getting home is ridiculous.

I work weekends at the moment and currently have to wake up at 5 AM. That 7 PM start last Friday basically makes my Saturday miserable. The 8 PM starts which no one watches outside of this footprint make even less sense to me. If I were to attend the game I ain’t getting home until 2-3 AM. I watch it at home it doesn’t get over with until super late either.

The thing that kills me is you have the stupid commercial breaks and the obscenely long reviews. Something needs to be done like a clock or how about not having the head ref trot his ass over to the headphones. If the moron couldn’t get it right live why can’t we just have the booth make the call?? I want all angles reviewed for like 2-3 minutes. Let the booth have one minute to get the spot, clock, down and distance.  Done and done.

One take I have on it is the concept of “indisuptable evidence” and the idea that if it is quite obvious the call was in error, it should be corrected.  But when they look at it for several minutes where they can’t tell right away and some angles support the call and some angles don’t then it isn’t obvious and you just go with the original call and get on with the game.

There should be a review clock. If they can’t get the call right on video in say one minute, the play stands and they move on.

Isn’t that how it first started? I recall in the NFL they had 90 seconds from the time the ref started looking at the replays to make a decision and at the 90 second mark the video feed shut off. They should just go back to that.
