The Oline looks bad. Just bad. The DLine looks bad too, but I literally think it’s just a personnel issue that can’t be fixed until next year. Hopefully Filinger or Carlton can be the next great edge rusher. I love him, but Tafua is not it.

Why? Why does the O-Line look bad? Because they couldn’t pick up a 7 man blitz with 5 guys? Because they couldn’t run a succesful dive play against 8 in the box? Please share your insight into which guys missed assignments that weren’t meant for the Tight Ends, RB’s or QB to make a read and audible. I’ld love to hear your detailed insight.

Guess this guy fell asleep when BYU pressured Brewer rushing 3 in the 4th in the classic BYU prevent D. I don’t blame him it was late.

Break it down for us since all you do is hype Harding up and try to pass the blame on to TEs/RBs. Explain to us how the O-Line isn’t expected to push their guy off the line of scrimmage. Explain to us how its always a blitzer when Brewer is scrambling on a 4 man rush. Go on, we will wait.

The RBs have struggled to pick up the blitz, but that isn’t the only issue here and everyone sees it.

Please consider contributing to my O-Line/Harding apologist bingo card.

I may be able to break it down. After being slow to react to overloading the box, Utah makes some adjustment, the defense flips to the opposite and again we do not adjust quickly. We were chasing them and not catching up quickly, we were doing little to dictate a change from them. In a game that required adjustments, Utah was having a hard time sometimes getting into any play. That can be fixed. Must be able to change at the line.

Rule #1 in BB, the team that is taking the easiest shots almost always wins. Rule #1 in FB is the most comfortable QB almost always wins. Rule 1A for the defense is to take the smile off the opposing QB. It takes execution, no doubt, but as the coaches always say ‘we have to put the players in position to be successful’. Did you notice Hall’s smile?

I know we like to think we have a noisy crowd at RES, but Provo is louder. The fans do not understand FB much but they do make noise. The Y took advantage of that.

Thanks for a legitimate stab at providing some insight. Of course I’m sure you could chop it endlessly and find a lot of issues. If failure to adjust was the primary issue in your eyes does that not signal a coaching deficiency?

For those following along on the bingo card please fill in the fixable issue space.

When have I hyped Harding ever? I’m asking for people to support their claim with details. Here’s some details: Micah Bernard averaged 12 YPC. Utah’s offense averaged more yards per play than BYU’s did. You start your first two drives off with an interception and a fumble, you get less plays, play from behind, and BYU dictates the game. That’s the issue. That’s why Utah lost this game, not because the O-line wasn’t good enough.

Hop on, I’m convinced his whole family is on the fan boards because there’s no explanation for his rabid support. In fact, I’m willing to have as many people who are willing explain to me why our Oline that leaks like a collander isn’t to blame and neither is their coach. I’m serious, every time this comes up some experts on the matter come out of the woodwork to absolutely simp for Harding. I want to either be proven wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt or shown olympic level mental gymnastics, I’m fine with either but I have a strong incling as to which on I’ll get. In fact I propse the following as well. O-line apologist bingo cards, I’ll be taking suggestions in replies. Off the top of my head I have:

      Time to gel.

      Young, but talented.

      Recruiting well.

      You just don’t understand football.

Have you ever played on an Oline.

      Size.

      Next year we should…

      These issues are fixable.

      Tarmac Harding,

Honestly, I finally am on board as well. After getting Bowles, we have not had a dude at o line since. We might as well just hand out scholarships to dudes at golds gym for all the good this o line has done us. You would think that injuries would be a thing of the past if we have this great offensive line but…well, how did last year go again? Against USC? Yeah, im joining you. Its time for him to kick rocks.
