The Rising drama the last two years is too much. Seeing Rising laughing on the sidelines when the team is performing poorly was really the last nail. Wilson looks very good at times and has enormous potential. I’d rather him gain experience now and lead the team. I do think he can still get the Utes to 9 or 10 wins this season with the Big 12 looking like garbage.

I second this. I appreciate Cam for what he accomplished here but I hope I don’t see him on the field again.

This team was built to win this year and reset next year. You don’t reset now if Rising can play. It’s too bad he’s just collecting checks and calling it a day.

I’m p**sed at Rising, but hell no. We just scored 10 points in a night game at home with Wilson as our QB. He’ll be good. But he’s not ready.

To be fair, it should been 16. Two missed 4th downs should have been FG’s.

I’m to the point that if Cam isn’t out there starting against AZST, then it’s time to go with Wilson. I’m very happy that everybody on here at the moment seems to understand there’s going to be growing pains with Isaac, but that you can see the potential there. He clearly has some things he needs to get better doing, but that’s pretty typical with a true freshman.

I’m not as positive as you. I like Wilson and think that he has a future but what we saw tonight might be a sample of what’s to come once a defensive book is put together on Wilson. Let’s be serious, Arizona, up to this game, was not a good defensive team. Yet somehow they put together a game plan that pretty much limited Utah’s opportunities. If we jettison Rising, wins might be hard to come by. It’s just me, but I’d rather have the guy that gives Utah the best chance to win play QB.

AZ dbs had a ton of PBUs that were in receiver’s hands. They did get away with 3 PIs on Singer alone. I don’t fault Wilson for what seems to be a longstanding tradition in recent Utah Football seasons. The “wtf” game. Like against Florida at the Swamp etc. Credit their dbs tonight. They played well for the most part.

Wilson clearly is not ready and needs to be put back on the shelf. The play calling didn’t help. If Cam plays that game we win.

It was a little concerning to have him smiling and laughing with the other QB’s on the sideline, especially when it was apparent the game was lost.

I think this loss was a wakeup call to the team. I think they’ll right this ship and we’ll see a much better football team because of it. Especially if Cam returns for ASU fully healthy. Based on the other Big 12 games we saw today, we could very well win out.

I can’t believe you guys are this emotional after a loss 😂. Cam gives us a better chance to win. We have a shot at the playoff this year. We clearly play Cam when he is back for ASU. Everyone chill out

To be fair, I think compared to other losses, the takes have been more reasonable.

It was a game time decision last week. Whitt said Rising was soooo close. Sooo close.

        Bye weeks

What will it be for Rising going into ASU game week?

Until he walks in the game with a helmet I don’t think we see Rising again.

I could understand that it would be best to play Wilson to prepare him for next year… but we have no idea if we’ll be good next year. Whitt could leave and we could get transfers leaving. We have an opportunity to make some noise now and that should be the plan. We can get healthier and win out as there is no juggernaut in our conference.

People have every right to feel mad at Rising for the face he’s missed so many game and that he’s been paid a lot, but it is best case for our team that he comes back and heals

I think energy will be much different after we get Cam back and remember how important he is. I get the frustration, I think it’s ok to be upset right now and then back on the Cam train once he gets back.

Are you guys crazy? Have you watched this season? Has Isaac Wilson shown enough to give us reason to be excited for the future? Yes. He shows a lot of promise. Cam Rising took us to two Rose Bowls. Am I frustrated that Cam took completely unnecessary hits that increased the risk of injury? Way freaking frustrated. So yeah, part of this loss is on him. But not b/c of what he’s doing right now. There is no way he’s sitting out collecting checks and happy about it. If he could play and play well, then he obviously would. We just have to hope he’s back by ASU. Isaac is clearly not ready to help us win a conference championship this year. And I am absolutely not up for another year like last year. As was said above, we were built to win this year.

Wanting to permanently bench one of the best QBs in program history because he’s hurt (no, he’s not faking it) in favor of a true freshman who just put up 10 points on one of the worst defenses in the conference is certainly a take…

I don’t care if he’s faking it or not, he’s not trying to get onto the field. Idk if that’s because he genuinely thinks Wilson gives the team a better chance, if he’s happy collecting NIL money, or if he’s just scared of getting reinjured, or some combination of the tree. The point still stands that he’s not trying to get onto the field. Watching pregame warmups his throws looked fine. He should’ve been marched out from the beginning and when that didn’t happen it should’ve happened sometime in the 2nd half, but at this point he’s just a glorified GA.

And we know this…how? Nothing in Cam’s history suggests he’s anything but a gamer. His weakness is that he’s too much of a gamer.

Whitt said it was a game time decision against OSU. Wilson confirmed didn’t know he was starting until 20 minutes before kick.

Zona Whitt said he was so close. Sooo close. Like how much closer was it this week? 10 minutes? Yet Wilson was rumored to take the majority of snaps in preparation for Zona.

It makes no sense at all. I have played this dance before. Rising is OUT.

Also I agree Wilson isn’t ready. Play Rose or Huard.

You think Rose knows the playbook three years into the program? Wasn’t that the reason he didn’t get any playing time last season, at least according to Whitt?

A player that wanted to play would advocate for himself when the coaches tell him he’s not starting. That tells me his desire to play isn’t very high if he’s fine sitting out. I can’t blame him, I think most of us would do that same, but it’s frustrating.

I would love to see Cam back on the field. But for the last couple games what I’d really like to have seen was Cam looking like he had some fire in his belly and that he was over amping up the team. Instead he seems to be kinda leaning back and smiling and joking. I don’t see the competitive intensity of a start QB. I can’t believe that at half he wasn’t holding his helmet in his had begging to be put in the game. Instead it felt more like a salary secure NFL QB who was just hanging out without too much concern about the game outcome.

I’m not saying he doesn’t care. I’m sure he does. But we’ve seen Cam step in (last year with Barnes) and try and win the game for the team from the sidelines. This year…not seeing it this game.

Common Ute hub. It’s one game Arizona had a bye last week to prep for Wilson. Rising should (who the hell knows) be back for ASU. We play our best when our backs are against the wall. We can’t afford another loss. This is Cams last hurrah as a college QB and Ute . He comes back and sparks the team just like he did in 2021.

I would be very happy if you are right. I think most of us would. But some of the issues seem bigger than the QB position (running back).

Even with Cam coming back, I wouldn’t be launching any celebratory rockets in the air. In those two Rose Bowl seasons with Cam at his peak, Utah lost a combined seven games, with five coming during the regular season. From what I’ve seen of this team, and the competition, a 9-3 record with Cam looks to be the ceiling. Suddenly, those games versus BYU, ISU, and Colorado (and I’d even throw UCF in there as well) look a hell of a lot more difficult to win. And, without a healthy Rising, they might end up being losses straight up. I guess I’ll just hope for the best but mentally prepare for the worst. Additionally, at this point, and I’m not pushing him out the door because he obviously is Coach for Life, my feelings wouldn’t be hurt if Whitt called it a day and allowed Scalley to take the reins.

What ever happened to the old rule, “if you can practice, you can play”?

Whitt is moving from hero to villain with how he has handled Cam.

I can not understand how we are in year 2 of Cam practicing and taking critical 1st team reps, but he is always just a game-time decision each week.

All in or in the way…

I think we’re overreacting a little bit. This looks like a similar conference to what we experienced for most of the Pac-12 era. Plenty of good teams but no great teams. So if you don’t bring it, there’s a good chance you’re gonna lose b/c of the conference parity. It also means that we probably still have a good shot at the B12 title game even if we have two conference losses. I still think we have a potentially great team (when healthy) that’s similar to our 2021 and 2022 teams. We’re 4-1. We have a bye week to regroup and get healthy. I still expect us to make it to the B12 title game. We had a bad night (mainly on the coaches, in my opinion) w/ a true freshman QB and w/out a couple of our best guys on defense…against a veteran QB who is probably the best QB in the conference. I think we’ve probably played our two hardest games already. If Cam comes back, our floor is 9 wins in the regular season, and our ceiling is still 11 wins. Do I expect Utah to drop one more? For sure. Hopefully it’s not BYU, who are good but who I also think are not as good as they look right now. Our remaining two hardest games are both at home where I don’t see us losing again. We’re still very much in the mix to win the conference. It’s not time to panic yet. Obviously, a loss is never good…but adversity can make you stronger and that’s historically been the case w/ our teams in the Cam Rising era.

Fifita is a sophomore, I wouldn’t call him a “Veteran”. He’s just a baller that should be a Ute, but we passed on him….

I have zero confidence in home or away, based on our home field performances. We have scored 23 against Baylor (ByU just out up 34 on their field) and 10 against one of the worst ranked defenses in the conference.

        BYU and ISU may destroy.

Hell, Colorado will probably be able to pass on us at will. We have no one to shut Hunter down and we are not getting to the QB.

We are looking at 8-4 and no playoffs based on what has been shown on the field.

Redshirt sophomore w/ a good amount of experience. And like you said, he’s just an excellent QB.

I agree w/ what you say…under the assumption that Isaac Wilson is our QB for the rest of the season. If we get Cam Rising back, then there’s no way we lose three more games. It’s too early in the season to say that Arizona isn’t one of the best teams in the conference…or to say that BYU, Iowa State, and Colorado are better than us (even w/ Isaac Wilson).

In both of our Rose bowl seasons we lost games. We can still get to the the conference championship game but it has to be Cam the rest of the way.
