  My advice would be to not worry about it. Wasington is a great team. IN FACT, it may be better for us to lose. Why, you ask?
  
  If we beat Washington, we may knock Washington out of the playoffs. Then, if we face Washington again in the PAC-12 title game and lose, then Washington goes to the Rose Bowl and we go to a lower bowl.
  
  BUT, if we lose to Washington, then lose to them again in the PAC-12 title game, Washington to the playoffs, us to the Rose Bowl.
  
  My point? Don’t worry if we lose. This is big boy football. You lose games.
  
  That being said, let’s go kick their asses.

  Or Utah could beat them Saturday, beat them again in the Pac 12 Championship game, and Utah goes to the playoffs.

    Funny how two losses doesn’t even knock us out of the Rose Bowl. In the MWC two losses knocked you out of the Vegas Bowl, maybe. Oh wait, Vegas Bowl, bad example that’s for 3 loss Utah. Mea culpa!!!!!!
    
    Still love being in the Pac12.

  With gameday in town you better win. I am not expecting a win but week to week control your own destiny and you should always win.
  
  Guess what I am saying is losing shouldn’t be a mentality ever.

  Your logic is flawed. You never gain anything by losing. Every game counts and win’s count more than loses. If Utah does win they still control their own destiny. If they lose they are dependent on games they have no control over.

  With the injury issues we’ve had and lack of a consistent offense, we aren’t a playoff team. The best we can hope for is a Rose Bowl which would be incredible. The Washington game doesn’t determine our fate at all. Lose that and win out and you get the rose bowl. If we run the table from here on out we’d probably get a hard look for the playoffs. Lose then win out we get the rose bowl. Lose two more and we end up maybe Holiday?

  I believe the Rose Bowl has their choice of who to pick. There’s no guarantee they’d take us. After the last two years Im not getting my hopes up.

    Unless I am mistaken (which happens more often than I care to admit) if the Conference Champ goes to the Playoff, the Rose has to take the team ranked highest in the CFP rankings.

      I think you’re right Matt. The College Football Playoff committee selects the NY Bowl match-ups.

      The 103rd Rose Bowl Game will be held on January 2, 2017 at the Rose Bowl Stadium. The game will feature the champion of the Pac-12 and Big Ten Conference. If the Conference champion is selected to participate in the College Football Playoff Semifinal, the Rose Bowl Game will select the next best team in the conference.
      
      So as far as I can gather, the Rose Bowl selects the next best team in the conference which is determined by the College Playoff Committee, which is determined by the Committee ranking.

  Thanks for this thread. I’ve never felt better about losing. In fact, I’m almost a byu fan now. Losing is winning.
