Wonder how much East’s head coach had to do with him not picking Utah. Regardless, I think that the late push that Pouha was able to make for him bodes well for future in state recruits.
Ika wasn’t really considering Utah until late in the process, Pouha made a good push but he was always leaving the state. I am excited to have Pouha to team up with Powell on the Dline.
Yeah, East’s head coach is a jackass and I’ve heard he tries to steer kids away from signing at Utah. He wants them to go out of state with the intention of having more credit come back to him as a coach. That is what I have heard.
Would love to know what Ute coaches have to say about him but it sounds like Pouha could make all this go away being an East alum.
The East coach has a bad rep amongst the high school coaching community too. He recently applied for the new school in south salt lake which will consist of Herriman/Riverton kids – called “Mountain Ridge High School” opening next year. As much as he has won, he wasn’t even one of the top candidates and referrals were to stay away from him. I saw East play twice this past season and both times, their kids were classless on the field.
That is exactly right. He teaches them no discipline and it shows. The attitude of the coach certainly comes out in their players. I wish he would just go away.
That’s too bad about that coach – I was unaware of his reputation. Need to replace him with a Ute alum. East High, being so close to the U and having so many talented Polys would be an amazing feeder school for Utah.
