I think we have the weapons to score a lot this Saturday, especially with Rising leading the way. We have a bunch of tight ends, 3-4 good wide receivers, and a good mix of running backs. I think we can mix things up and keep the Cowboys confused.
I am honestly concerned about our D. We let Utah State run against us and they had open receivers all day long. (WIDE OPEN.) I have heard things like Barnes knew our defense so well, he could rip us apart. On the other hand, I heard that Scalley changed things so Barnes would be confused, and the players didn’t respond well. I think both of those rumors are bunk. We have better athletes across the board and should have dominated them. But, we didn’t do that. Remember, they were shut out by USC.
So, why should we believe that our defense will perform better against a more talented group of athletes this Saturday? I suppose it is possible that the players took USU lightly, and the USU players came in like this was their Super Bowl. Still, I think we have issues. Missing Reid and Damuni is huge. If Reid plays – I think we will perform better. Scaley has his work cut out for him. I hope to see a much better defense this Saturday afternoon.

The defense has rarely, if ever been Utahs weakness. Last week should have been only 10 points given up. Most of the first half Wilson was looking absolutely terrible again. 3 and outs really hurt a defense. Once he started to find some confidence and get momentum going for the offense, the defense only gave up 7 points. USC shut them out at home. How many do you think they score at RES with Rising playing? Probably closer to a 50-10 score. I do think OKST gets us though. Mostly because I’m not buying that CR is going to be gtg.

I think alot of those catches that USU recievers caught were highlight real catches for USU. They probably catch 1/5 of those if paired against the same corner with the same throw 5 more times. Those catches they made were one hand grabs and lucky they held on to it. They were pumped and had drinken THE HEY LETs TrY TO BEAT UTAH Kool aid.

While I agree with the reel-worthy catches part, on the other hand, they also had a couple easy drops that could’ve been TDs. So the net effect would’ve likely been similar.

no, no, no. Only Utah receivers drop the ball. The other team can’t catch the ball because of great effort by the Utah defense 🙂

I’m worried we could get boat raced on the ground. Who is the LB’er plugging the holes? I haven’t noticed one.

My biggest fear is that this game is a shootout and it may take Cam a couple of drives to get back in sync. If we get behind by 2 scores, there may be no way back.

128/133 pass defense. Ball State and Middle Tennessee are barely below them. I promise you there’s always a way back. 😂

Not if you get behind and both teams are scoring on every drive.

I am quite a way away from expecting OSU to be scoring on most drives. Too often Utah plays down in a conservative way to the opposition. Doesn’t Utah’s defense play better in bigger games?

You guys are funny. Worried about a Kyle Whittingham Defense??!!!

This game has been hyped up all off season. It is old vs new on the Big 12 with the two most tenured coaches in the conference. Both teams are going to want to prove something as are the fanbases. I think it will be a great game and one to look forward to!

I’m going to flip if Gillman tries to tackle someone with his head or shoulder again. Dude needs to come to the realization that he wasn’t born with Phocomelia of the arms.

I had to look it up….

I totally didn’t have to look it up. Nope. Never ever never.

Of course I am optimistic about our defense- does not mean I am certain they will shut the Cowboys down.
We are playing a good team on the road. A win here sets up a fantastic season. Such wins are hard to get.
This is the exciting part of college football!
