We had 8 guys miss all or part of the game last night. Also, Rose our potential backup QB is out. I cannot remember ever having that many guys on our team miss a game, even at mid-season.

The good news is that, as far as I know – none of these injuries are season-ending injuries. Can we continue to beat good teams without these guys? Probably not.

However, the silver lining to this is that guys are getting some valuable experience. I doubt there will be a lot of lineup changes for the Baylor game. But, If we can get most of them back by UCLA, we could still have an excellent season.

When I think about what our front seven were able to do (missing 4 key guys) I am astonished. We have now given valuable playing time to guys who may not have otherwise had the opportunity. Our depth is getting even better. In 1993 we had a ton of injuries. Guys got to play key minutes and developed into very good players. We reaped the benefits in the magical 1994 season.

Can we beat Baylor with 8-9 guys missing? It won’t be easy.

      Go Utes!!!

Obviously Kuithe and Rising are still recovering from major injuries last year but I’m not sure how we ended up so incredibly banged up for the first game otherwise? Thankfully we appear to be really deep, particularly on D. I feel like the CB area might be where we’re thinnest on D, yet thankfully that unit seems to be the most healthy…

The more I think about it the more I’m looking forward to seeing Rose.

I doubt we see Rose at all this season.

i think he is saying we don’t see Rose, bc by the time Rising comes back we won’t need Rose.

Yeah I again ask for his basis. Unless Rising drastically changes his style of play he will in all likelihood sustain an injury.
Rising is a gamer and he puts his body on the line. It is also incredibly risky.

You have two guys that just got significant reps against Florida. Rose is also coming off a pretty significant injury and has zero reps in games. If Rising gets hurt I would assume Utah would go back to Barnes / Johnson this season. He might see some garbage time if there is any late in the season.

I might be wrong, but that is my feeling.
