It sounds like we are pretty healthy. In the article – Whitt discusses the new process and schedule that they used this camp. He also mentions that he would like to get Isaac Wilson a lot of playing time next Thursday night.

Man, I think we’re all sleeping on the Thunderbirds. Don’t underestimate the David & Goliath scenario here. They’re going to come to town ready to punch us in the face. We better be ready or we’ll go down.
Just kidding. 56-3.

Never take an opponent lightly. But, we need to take care of business in the first half. Then give Isaac a series or two with the first-team offense. IMO it would be good for him to get reps with the first team.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Huard & Rose taking a few series in that game as well. Rising needn’t play more than half of the 2nd-Qtr.

Dream scenario Rising Q1 & 2, first possession in Q3, Wilson Q3, Rose 1-2 possessions Q4

I hope we see Rose or Huard (depending on who is 3rd string) play in the 4th. I’d like to see how Rose looks like in an actual game, even against an overwhelmed opponent.

Anyone worried our new injury limiting approach may translate to poor tackling?

It’s a balance. We’ll see if they got it right soon enough.

I was before reading the article. It sounds like here is plenty of hitting. The approach was to give guys a rest day between practices. The first hit that Kuithe an Rising take will be interesting.

Playing Florida week 1? Yup.
Playing SUU week 1? Nope. Not at all.

Poor tackling in the Florida game had more to do with being out athleted than preparation.

This is not true at all. Utah took TERRIBLE angles and most of what occurred was corrected that season.

Nope. I don’t think they took off days of tackling fundamentals, this is the quote that I read into the most, “Whittingham also implemented modifications in lifting to prevent soft-tissue injuries and looked at the warmup and stretch routines the Utes are doing.” My friend who does Chiropractic for the team had suggested to Whitt that maybe Olympic lifts throughout camp and midseason are too rigorous and likely adding to the injury problem, Whitt didn’t really care for what my buddy had to say, but looks like he implemented some changes anyway, and the results are in!

I am close to some old players. They do not speak highly of the amount of hard lifting they were expected to do throughout the season.
All of them said it contributed to their multiple injuries, surgeries, and fading down the stretch.
Still loved their time in the program and speak highly of the coaches though, well, most of them.
