In postgame interviews, Kuithe was asked about what they were seeing from the TCU defense he basically said we were playing right into their hand with the route concepts we were running, he just said it in more technical football terms. Then Keanu says the defense did everything they could but that their mindset going forward is they have to hold the other team to no touchdowns if the offense is gonna play this way. Then Whitt says everything will be evaluated top to bottom over the next 48 hours, which you don’t say unless you already have something in mind.
My prediction: Lud either gets fired or gets stripped of his play-calling duties by Monday morning. And let’s face it, it’s long overdue. He’s been given way too long of a leash, and personal relationships aside, I think Whitt finally recognizes the root issue. Scoring 7 points and failing to enter the red zone one time against a sorry TCU defense is a fireable offense. Just beyond depressing. Not sure where we go from here.

Huh, I haven’t watched the post game interview yet, but that is definitely a damning interview by both Kuithe and Tanu. They are clearly upset and rightfully so. They deserve much better.

As much as I want it to happen, I don’t think it will.

Totally agree. Absolute incompetence on offense. Our O line allowed 4 sacks and linebackers flew through the line with ease, and this is a crappy TCU defense mind you. It’s clear that Ludwig is not playing on Isaac’s strengths sadly.

Kuithe dropping the f-bomb live on that interview was the only moment of joy I had all night

Kuithe also dropped a pass, and several blocks.

Ludwig won’t be fired mid season, Whit won’t do that to one of his best friends. I also doubt he will strip him of play calling duties. If he does, he won’t announce it.

Zero evidence that any changes will be made. Look at the last 3 games. It’s maddening because even the players are saying it. But I hope the AD and HC realize fans are reaching the point of apathy. In sports you want passion from your fans. Angry or ecstatic. When it reaches the apathetic level, that’s a very bad sign of where a program is trending 📉

This time last year I was farming downvotes for thinking these issues affect the players. Realistically, how couldn’t it?

Ludwig has been horrible and inconsistent for years. I could never understand all the comments that he was nationally recognized and respected for his offensive mind. Total BS. Look at what other teams are able to do against teams that we can’t do anything against. He has dragged Utah down, hurt the development of this young QB and along with head in the sand Whitt, have really set Utah back quite a ways this year. We better hire a young stud OC that can recruit and who will open this offense up.

Yeah,
The fact that some have said in the past, that Lud was some QB whisperer is comical. He has zero development in the QB room and hasn’t been able to field a good offense, unless the QB is already a special player. Johnson, Cam and Huntley were able to cover for all his shortcomings with improvisation skills.

Do you guys remember what it was like before Lud?

12 points a game, 3 game losing streak where anemic wouldn’t describe the offense, zero adjustments even after a bye and defensive players now openly saying the know they must contain the other offense because they know the offense won’t score enough? Oh wait. That’s now.

The pre-Ludwig annual O coordinator changes?
Or do you mean pre-Ludwig back to the Meyer years. We’ve had good and bad. We’ve had years where we win 6-3. But the game has changed. More explosive plays, more offensive risk. We haven’t adjusted to match it.
He’ll even Andy Roderick, who I still think was awful at Utah, has adapted.

Anyone had a link? I can’t find anything online. It’s like they don’t want this out there.

the only thing I’ve been able to find is the Locked On Utes podcast where they danced around the issues for 30 minutes but still weren’t willing to come to any real conclusions.

It appears to me that real Offensive Coordinator the last several years has been Cam Rising. Think about it for a minute. When Cam Rising doesn’t play the offense is stagnant no matter who the QB is or the team the Utes played. Is it because Rising is calling an audible at the line and changing the play that Ludwig called? Yes, he was in EVERY game. The more I watch the Utes without Rising at QB, the more I am convinced that he made a very average OC appear to be a genius. Let Rising call the plays the rest of the season from the press box, it damn sure can’t be worse.
