I know, I know, it is crazy to think that it was just a year ago that many fans were asking how long Kyle Whittingham had left at Utah. With the job Whittingham has done so far this season, in addition to what he accomplished last year, Chris Hill may very well be asking that same question to himself after this season. Is Kyle Whittingham paid enough?
Its a tough question to tackle, especially since the season is far from over. He is about in the middle of the PAC-12 which is surprising considering the names in coaching, and the schools themselves, the PAC-12 boasts. I guess the better question, maybe, is if there a school that is willing to pay Kyle more for his services? I know a lot of people speculated about Texas coming calling after the season, but I don’t believe that to be very likely; They’re after a big name coach. I do however, think there is probably a bigger name school out there that would be willing to pay Kyle a lot of money. Would Utah be willing to match?
Kyle Whittingham has turned down schools like Tennessee in the past, while Utah was still in the MWC, so with Utah in PAC-12 I don’t know if the draw would be that alluring anymore. I truly think Kyle loves Utah.
Kyle Whittingham is listed as the 40th highest paid coach in the nation at $2.6 million (note that not all coaches are listed because private school do not have to disclose their pay). Thoughts?

I do know he gets performance bonuses, for stuff like being ranked in the top 10. At we getting a great value comparatively? Absolutely.

As long as Kyle keeps winning, Dr. Hill will keep increasing his salary.
We all know Whit is awesome, but look at the track record. IT’S WONDERFUL – but it’s not a National Championship yet.
Whit’s increases in pay and bonuses has been proportionate to his success in the larger college football landscape. If he continues to grow this program into a massive powerhouse, I feel 100% confident that Dr. Hill will continue to increase his compensation.
Whit won’t leave because his pay isn’t fair. If he wants more, all he has to do is ask, I would bet. -

Seriously? I think he’s making exactly what he should be making. Two losing seasons and if it wasn’t for last years success, he’s probably coaching somewhere else. I could understand the situation Utah AD Dr. Hill had going into last years season with the coaches and contracts. This season still has plenty more games to go, remember a couple of years ago Utah upset Stanford then went on a four game losing streak. Now I don’t think that will happen this season but it isn’t out of the realm of possibilities. Pac-12 is hard.
I’ve seen this discussion among the zoobs and they seem to hope in some weird way that Utah does have a good season and Whittingham leaves for ‘greener-pastures’. But then again, they believe Utah didn’t play the same Michigan team that humiliated their pathetic Big XII wannabes. Except Utah did play the same players, same coaches, SAME EVERYTHING! Idiots!
