ParticipantUtah basketball will soon be back. Hope Miller follows and we can actually recruit a point guard. Let’s get the MUSS back and support the team. Go Utes!!

ParticipantThere will be high expectations, but also there seems to be high $$$upport for those that want to invest in players (and assistants).
Not all of us have the funds needed to attract quality players in today’s game but I am looking forward to renewing my season tickets and hope others (in particular the students) will help pack the stands.

The Miami Ute
ParticipantI’m going to wait until the actual press conference before I start celebrating. There’s still no confirmation from either the school or Jensen’s camp.

The Miami Ute
ParticipantAn official announcement has yet to happen from the school.
Reports: Alex Jensen will be Utah’s next basketball head coach

ParticipantBy all means, let’s just assume that the reporters covering this situation are mistaken, and publishing falsehoods, or mistakes. KSL is always getting this s**t wrong.
Good hell you’re a pessimist.

The Miami Ute
ParticipantI’m not a pessimist. I was just around for Bellichick’s deal with the Jets, Big Rick’s deal with USC, and also remember Jensen pulling his name out of contention four years ago. By all means, I want to it happen but I won’t let my guard down until there’s a press conference and an official communique from the school.

ParticipantBig Rick was officially announced by USC and even had an introductory press conference, if I recall correctly. So if that is your standard, even an official announcement from the school won’t be good enough.

The Miami Ute
ParticipantCan you read? I’m guessing probably not since I said above that my standard is a press conference and an official communique from the school. But hey, feel free to spin my comments whichever way you want.

ParticipantFantastic hire!
This truly feels like a revolution for the program to return to its place among the elites in college basketball.

ParticipantAgreed! This is the most optimistic I’ve been about the basketball program in a long time! But the coach is only part of the equation. We need some good NIL dollars coming in and we need some seriously improved fan support. These two can be a circular reference for the better or for the worse, so getting it right will be a major factor in where we go. But like I said, I’m optimistic!
LFG! Go Utes!

ParticipantThis is just my opinion, but it feels like Alex was the only hire to shake things up and put Utah back into relevance as a basketball program. Regardless of the first two years, he needs to stay for 4 years on the contract to get some consistency. At minimum, he draws the eyes of locals and those close to the program beyond who is providing the NIL. If he can get consistent tournament appearances and big wins along the way, then you can start talking about the greatness of the program back when he played for the Utes. Adding Miller makes a ton of sense too. I think Harlan knows that and should go all in.

ParticipantHas anyone seen when he will step away from the Mavs?
-
utefansince79
ParticipantHopefully he can be able to jump right in and be ready to go after players in the portal. I perceive we can go after a player once their season ends. Not to mention reaching out to some of our current players to convince them to stay.
