You’ve got to feel really happy for our skiers. Last year they were cruising to the championship after 3 of the 4 days (by an even bigger margin than they won by this year), and COVID cancelled the races. No championship was awarded. Imagine your team is winning the national championship football game by 35 points going into the 4th quarter…then the game gets cancelled. Imagine how gutted you would be – as a fan it’s hard enough, now imagine being a player.
These kids play a minor sport, but they work just as hard and sacrifice just as much as the revenue sport athletes. Skiing is their world…it’s their life. Championships mean just as much. And to be able to come back and win the natty after what happened last year…that’s gotta be a sweet feeling. Those athletes deserve every good feeling they’re experiencing right now.
