What should happen: byu doesn’t move the ball much. Their freshman QB is running for his life all game. Utes control the LOS on both sides of the ball. Utes win the turnover margin. Shelley manages a good game and is smart with the football. It’s not super pretty but it should be a blowout.
What will probably happen: byu doesn’t move the ball much but they put together a couple of drives that end in points. Their freshman QB is under a lot of pressure all game. Utes don’t have their way on the LOS like we think they will but they get the better of byu in the trenches. Shelley makes one or two head scratching mistakes. Even though the Utes win every statistical category convincingly, they let byu hang around and don’t put them away until late in the game.
Much to the chagrin of Ute fans byu fans will continue to claim there is no talent gap but it’s all coaching, Kyle signed a deal with satan, the PAC-12 sucks, someone’s elderly matron was pushed down some stairs, alcohol was flung at Zach Wilson’s family, another deuce was dropped in the concourses, a drunk man bullied a little kid, they’ll spin stories that make them sound like moral bastions in an immoral place just to stroke their own egos, and last but not least they’ll again tell us our days are numbered and that next year the tide turns for various reasons.
With all that said, Utes win. I hope it’s in dominant fashion like yesterday’s game but it probably won’t be.
