Texas Quarterback just entered the transfer portal, true freshman, was the #3 dual threat quarterback on 247 in last years class. Recently followed Utah football and KWhitt on Twitter, apparently has connections to Ty Jordan…

The plot thickens.

6’2, 230 pounds, very athletic, possible move to safety? I don’t see us taking an underclassmen at QB with Rising and Costelli, but who knows.

Take as many recruits as you can get and let them prove who’s the best.
-
JakeParticipant
I agree, especially with the transfer portal these days, that’s why I thought we should’ve taken Costelli and Dart.
-
Central Coast UteParticipant
Dart wasn’t coming to Utah.

JakeParticipant
I’ve heard a lot of stuff, I’ve heard that he was like Zach Wilson and really wanted to go to Utah, and I’ve also heard that he wants to go out of state, so who really knows. But Utah never went after him because of Costelli.

The love affair for Wilson and local guys is fascinating to me. Wilson blows, guys trust Whitt and co to evaluate talent and make the best decision.
Utah has worked Wilson over enough with base looks at times.
-
AlohaUteParticipant
“Wilson blows”. Dude, your red goggles are thick! He’s an excellent QB. It Wilson blows NFL scouts wouldn’t have him as a potential 1st round pick. Even if he ends up failing in the NFL, the fact he ends up getting there and getting a start shows he doesn’t blow at the college level. I understand Ute fans’ disdain for anything related to BYU, but you need some intellectual honesty and develop a capacity to be somewhat objective.

ProvoUteFanParticipant
Wilson may not “blow”, but he pads his stats against weaker opposition. In 2 games against Utah he’s 0-2 with 2 TD and 3 INT. His QBR was 93.8 (’18) and 40.0 (’19). He gets exposed against good defenses.

Come on now, Wilson doesn’t blow, he makes Bentley look like he moved from playing o line. I have no disdain over not getting Wilson, I doubt he would’ve ever worked out for us. But he can make every throw, doesn’t matter who he’s playing, he puts the ball where it needs to be.

Agree. Load up on as many top level QBs as possible and let it play out. The transfer portal turns out is as much a crap shoot as JC. Bentley has improved. Is he going to get it done against the top dogs in the P12? No coach really wants to throw his true Frosh QB to the wolves. I wish these kids would exercise some patience and enjoy the journey in college. If you have talent the NFL will find you.

His recruiting profile projects him at LB or QB. I’m sure we could use him at either slot should the need arise. The next 24 hours will be interesting. Buckle up people!

He was the No. 34 ranked recruit in the country and the No. 2 ranked prospect in the state of Texas. Didn’t play this year due to recovering from a knee injury from his senior year in high school.
Jackson finished his high school career with more than 3,600 passing yards and 40 touchdowns, along with nearly 3,300 rushing yards and 51 touchdowns on the ground.

He looks awesome. Would love to see him in Utah uniform!
