Two years ago when I first saw Jayce Johnson I was excited about his potential.  I thought to myself, “Here’s a 7-footer who is fairly coordinated. He is very weak on the block, weak at rebounding, terrible from the free throw line. Looks like a rag doll out there.  But he has potential.”  Tonight, two years later, I saw a 7-footer who is very weak on the block, weak at rebounding, terrible from the free throw line and looks like a rag doll out there. He got boxed out and out-rebounded by a guard who was a foot shorter than him.

How TF has this kid NOT improved in 2+ years, at all? He’s still hucking up foul shots with one hand. Has NOBODY coached this kid or is he not coachable? Has nobody taught him how to shoot a basketball? How to box out?

      WTF?

dude, i literally have been saying the same exact thing every single game this season. I’ve been following him since he was recruited from california and graduated early from highschool to start pacticing with the team. sigh*

I think the guy needs to take a ballet class and learn how to control his feet down there.

Well, the good news is Matt Van Komen appears to have the footwork of a ballet dancer, so next year will be more fun.

Jayce is just Jayce. Hopefully he will turn into a rebounding force again this year.

The bad news is the Pac has 3 in the top 10 for BB recruting next year with Az and USC #1 and #2.  They and Oregon each are bringing in 3 players ranked better then any player Utah has ever had, going back however long 247 looks back.  No reason not to expect these teams to be anything but very good.
