Completely agree. I think the collective rending of garments and donning of hairshirts is a bit premature. We lost to a good team (their #10 ranking is not really an accident) in a game where literally every bad break that could go against us did, and we were still technically in it until the very end. (Reminded me a lot of the Wazzu game last year actually.)
I think the Bye Week came at a good time, both for getting key players time to heal from injuries (Moss, Covey) and getting heads back into the right place. Almost as importantly, the rest of the South appears to be, well, not very good… I think this is the first year we go 5-0 against the South. As for Wazzu, they don’t play defense (neither does USC for that matter), and I think they will have a harder time scoring against us than they did against the Trojans. I know the Chicken Littles will cry “kool-aid” but everything the team set out to achieve this season is most definitely still there to be had. If we lose on the Palouse next week then that path becomes a lot more difficult, but let’s all take a deep breath and stop projecting out the whole season based on one (or even two) week(s) of performance. Despite the execution struggles the past two weeks, if you’re being honest you can see the talent/athleticism of this team is there. There’s a lot of football left to be played over a lot of weeks.
