Their family had to escape through the desert from south sudan to Khartoum during the Sudanese civil war (4 million people displaced, ~2 million people died) and eventually made it to Egypt with nowhere to stay. They were homeless living in a church until Aliet found some odd jobs to pay for an apartment. after a year or two they got refugee status and made it to Utah. His mom has worked for us for several years and is one of the nicest ladies.
A couple years ago when he was coming out of JC he really had no interest in staying in SLC. IIRC his brother is at a J.C. in Kansas
