Well it was announced yesterday that their 1,000+ yard, senior star running back will not play in the game. He is going to be preparing for the draft.

Aha, had not heard that.  Recently checked on QB Grier, he has announced he’s returning for 2018 season (not entering NFL draft) but no word about bowl game; after hand surgery 20 Nov it was said he’d be out 1 month.   Given that this is a lower-tier bowl I would guess he’s going to play it safe and not play.   Would rather the Utes beat them full strength, but gotta play with what is dealt…

I can’t see any way Grier would risk injury.  He is going to be in the mix for Heisman next season and will be one of the top QBs in the 2019 draft.

I am disapointed we won’t see him play in the game, but the game will still be enjoyable.

QB still unknown or out? Star RB out? Fine by me. I’ll take every advatage possible.

I hope Grier plays, last time we played a team that had a quarterback with a broken finger I had a great viewing experience.

So much this. Give me a 20 point win over a depleted WVU any day over a loss or 1 point win.

Perception is reality and I’d rather people perceived us to be really good.

Exactly this. We need a winning season for recruiting, confidence for the young guys that everything will work out, more money for the program, etc.
