Will it turn out that Sitake had his head up his ass and this year the defensive staff figures out how to defend Rich Rod’s offense?
I think this is pretty much what Justin Ena is saying.
“If we play our game the right way, I think we have a good defense,” he said. “If we start freelancing, doing things that we’ve done in previous years, we’re going to get gassed.”
“We want to make sure we simplify the scheme,” he said. “(We will) have the guys know exactly where they need to be. … Just understanding the Xs and Os and schematically making things simpler. They’re such an up-tempo offense to where we have to simplify because they’re going so quick. So what we don’t want to do is put too much scheme and Xs and Ox out there, and just let them do their job. We’ve got big, physical guys who can make tackles, and that’s what we’re hoping for.”
Utah football notebook: Arizona injuries make prep difficult; defense will look to simplify
Also, I think Amy Donaldson is a great writer/reporter.
