Only surprising thing was the drama that surrounded it this week.

His whiny rant at the post game I review was the icing on the cake. All the bad things that happen are everybody else’s fault. He took the program to a certain amount of success, and now it is time to move ahead with somebody more capable ttoo grow the program.

Matt Wells, Colorado’s AD is on line 4…

Oh wow. Didn’t realize Holgerson may be interested. That potential hire scares me .

Yeah, Holgerson seems like an odd choice. Feels like CU would be a significant step down from West Virginia at this point.

Holgerson facing Leach 4 years out of 6 would be epic.  Holgs would be a great hire for the Buffs.

Why? Never been to Boulder, but it’s supposed to be a pretty awesome place. Isn’t Morgantown the east coast equivalent of Pullman?

As for coaching, he’s a pretty good recruiter and an offensive mind. That’s an upgrade over Mac. It’s also a fairly offensive based conference with the chance to prove himself elsewhere. He’s also worked with Leach and Sumlin, which affords him the chance to be closer to people he knows and compete against them.

On the other hand, I guys Colorado would be a bit of a rebuild where he’s already got a good thing going in WVU.

That’s mostly what I was thinking in terms of it being a step down.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Boulder is awesome. But jumping from an established program in WVU to something that, at least from the outside, looks to be in disarray feels like a step backwards imo.

Yeah, good point – especially when you frame it that way.

The only rebuttal I can think of would be that if he wanted to build another program. Not everyone wants to be Saban and stay at the top. Some enjoy the challenge, ownership and grind of building something from scratch (why entrepreneurs sometimes build many businesses).

I have no idea where Holgerson falls on that spectrum, but I have to agree with you, it would definitely be a risk to leave WVU.

Dude really rubbed me the wrong way when he was screaming for a targeting call that wasn’t when the QB ran it and lowered himself into the hit.

I’m actually surprised he was fired before Helton.
