This season was devastating for Utah and most people were wrong about the Big12 rankings. I was completely wrong about TSPP and Colorado. Two teams I saw as really struggling.

I sort of bit my tongue in the preseason about Utat but I felt Utah wasn’t much better than last year. Good defense can keep you in games but the offense wasn’t gonna do you any favors.

Rising’s leg being repaired always seemed suspect to me. Such a massive part of his game was his mobility and guys more athletic than Rising don’t come back strong that soon.

If you look at the conference as a whole there isn’t much difference from the top 1-2 teams and the bottom. I would say TSPP isn’t MASSIVELY different than Utah. One offseason and you can turn it around quickly and be in the hunt again. So can many other teams.

I guess that is where I am at. Sucking on cope and dreams of 2025.

If I had dreams I want Harlan gone. I want Whitt to retire. I want Scalley to form a new offensive staff. Almost entirely. I also want Scalley to throw money at Jay Hill for a DC or assistant coach position.

Very frustrating. Look at our scores the first 9 games. If we even had a semi competent offense and decent consistency quarterback play, 8-1 or 7-2 would be very likely. That’s not coping. It’s expressing how low the offense is and how we couldn’t even rise above stank status.

None of what you said happens if Whitt is not gone after this season. He’s one of the main reason the offense has been inept for majority of his coaching tenure, except the good Cam years. Cam saved his ass, and now Cam is injured and done! I love Cam for all he has done for Utah, but don’t want to see him back!

Give other QBs a chance. Bring in a half decent to solid OC. Whitt needs to leave or next year will be repeat if not worse! Go UTES!

Realistically the contracts won’t add up. You fire the AD and then force an OC onto the staff you probably end up making the situation worst.

It hinges more on Harlan getting the boot in my opinion. You need a transitional person to evaluate the situation without the emotion. Clearly Harlan is compromised.

Yep. Harlan gave Whitt the extension and named Scalley coach in waiting. They are both Harlan’s guys now, whether they were hired originally by him or not.

You fire Harlan, other than for cause of which his actions Saturday are an indicator of potential cause, because you want to change direction from Whitt AND Scalley. If you’re going to bring a new HC from outside the program, you fire the AD and let his replacement hire the new coach. Because the worst thing for a new AD is to have an entrenched coach who is going to do whatever he wants even though you are titularly his boss. For an extreme example, google Joe Paterno.

Compromised? Putin has gotten to Harlan?
