KeymasterWith the regular-season wrapped up, the 7th-seeded Utes will play the 10th-seeded Cardinal in the opening round of the #Pac12MBB Tournament Wednesday, March 8.
MBB was 1-1 vs Stanford this season, both teams winning on the road.

ParticipantIt is real important to win a game or two to preserve the momentum we had in the first part or the season. Need to see the return of Carlson and Madsen scoring.

ParticipantMadsen was rusty after the long layoff and hopefully will be stronger this week. Branden meanwhile really in a shooting slump at the wrong time and hopefully can find his shot again. We certainly should be able to beat Stanford but need to shoot better then 30% to do so.

ParticipantAgree, IF Utah beats Stanford, as much as I want to see Utah beat UofA through my Crimson beer goggles, that is not happening. Carlsen has carried a big load for this team for most of the season and the wear and tear is showing. Seems whatever the Saunders situation is it continues game to game. Saunders goes off for 25 in the UCLA game scores 8 in the USC game with spotty time, 2 minutes in the CU game.
All in with Smith, I think he’s a solid coach. He inherited a mess created by the BB celebrity LK. This year showed progress compared to last year. All comes down to how long Utah is willing to give Smith time to turn this thing around. Not sure what the definition of turning it around is for Utah BB at this point. Currently, Utah BB has a long way to go to become a NCAA March Madness team.

ParticipantIf we play good defense, and have at least an average shooting game, we’ll be ok.

Participantwin a game or 2 for our NIT momentum.

ParticipantProblem is that we face Stanford first, that one we could win. But then we draw Arizona and I don’t see that happening again.

ParticipantWould very much like a victory Wednesday against the Trees. If anything to avoid a 6 game losing streak to end the year.

ParticipantThe only benefit I see to playing on Wednesday is that you get to shake out the first game jitters. Though we desperately needed that win against Colorado last week to avoid Arizona

ParticipantI dont see us beating Stanford. I think both teams going in different directions- or at least Stanford playing much better now than earlier.

ParticipantWe play much better against the bottom half of the league, we play much better when not facing the other home crowd, we play much better when BC is on his game, and we play much better with Madsen back in the flow. We have 1 and 2 going for us, #3 may be a function of #1, #4 can be a huge factor. I think we play good vs Stanford, Az will be a much harder nut to crack. Lets go Brandon, Lets go Madsen.
