I have to wonder if this whole thing is a little more nuanced than just a typical media deal. My reason for thinking this is due to the fact that both Apple and Amazon want to enter the live sports market. Considering this, one might question the extent to which the proprietary production technology of the Pac 12 Networks is influencing the situation. This could explain why the process is taking longer than anticipated (imagine the Pac 12 Network becoming the production arm for the entire live sports market for Apple or Amazon)

I just wish the pac would come out and give us some form of update. Even if it’s not what the deal is, at least let us know you’re working on it.

For sure it is. Considering no one has really done a streaming deal beyond ESPN+, there is a lot of detail to work out and various things to consider.

From what I understand media deals don’t usually happen overnight like the B12 did. The reason theirs got wrapped up so quick is because they took less money and extended their current contract. Not even the BIG deal is done yet. Working with new partners and negotiating what happens with the P12N will always take a bit. I’m not worried about it. The P12 will be just fine. They’ll make more money and have the same exposure as the B12 will as they’re playing on ESPN+. And in the next cycle when everyone else is moving to streaming, the P12 will already have their corner of the market covered, The SEC and BIG will obviously be taken care of and everyone else will be scrambling trying to figure things out.

The B1G deal took TWO years….We’ll be just fine.

Didn’t the pac 12 have to dismantle everything at the HQ in San Fran?
