Got a new big back for short yardage situations out of NM State. 6’2” 215 lbs. looks like a bruiser, won’t give us a ton of yards, but can hopefully punch it in and get those short yardage 3rd and 4th down conversions we’ve sucked at recently.

Love the pickup! A ‘Larry Czonka’ type, … tough, tough running back. Shula remolded Czonka’s running game back in the day to literally become a human ‘bulldozer’. A little smaller but Washington may give the Utes the same. You need 2-3 yards, you get 2-3 yards!

BTW, I’m eating some crow right now, too. Thought Whitt was all washed up. But, really liking every pickup the Utes have made so far.

For the record I don’t think it’s actually Whitt calling these shots. This isn’t his style. I believe though, he wisely turned the offensive recruiting reins over to Beck who in my mind is making some very smart moves rebuilding this offense.

Have you seen the film on Dampier? Quick, and can put the ball on a dime in a gallup. The Utes may end up being dangerous on offense next year. There’s life in this team yet!!!

It is good to get a big back in the room, but Whitt and Utah has a history of getting big backs just recently, Tavion Thomas and Chris Curry

I will gladly eat crow if the football team can turn it around. last two years were pathetic at best.

still glad Ganther, Witted and Ludwig are gone.

It seems like the team has switched recruiting philosophies, at least on offense. For a few years there it seemed like they were just going after whoever had the highest rating. Now it seems like they’ve switched to going after guys that have demonstrated an ability to fit a specific need. I think this will work out better for the team.

Of course, it could just be that they can’t afford the higher rated guys so they go with the lower guys, but that isn’t what this looks like to me.

A running back like this would have been a huge difference maker this year. The portal is looking good this year!

6-2 / 215 and built. Also means we can keep Andrews on defense.

Mikey likes it! Feed me! I love the idea of a stron duo of backs, a bruiser blocking strong back and a fast shifty agile back.

Still need the WSU or NM back. I would take either one of them.
