My 2-bit observations on Huntley's strengths

I’m not a coach. I just play one here. This isn’t a critique. It is just an observation. I’ve watched every minute of every college game Huntley has played. It seems to me that Huntley’s best passes are one of two kinds:  

1. Very quick hitters. Short, 3-step drops. Quick reads. It seems the longer the play takes to develop the lower his accuracy becomes.

2. On the move, rolling out etc.  Somehow it seems like Tyler is more accurate when he’s moving left or right. Not running to avoid a sack mind you, but rolling out.  He’s not as accurate when he drops straight back.  Perhaps this is because he is able to see the field a little better and doesn’t have to see over the offensive line and defensive players. 

So if I was the coach I’d do less straight drop backs and implement a combination of quick passes and rollouts.

I’ve noticed the same thing on rollouts. He really seems to excel there. 

I never thought about this until the last game, I think Griese mentioned it – he’s not a fan of rollouts because it takes away half of the field.

My first thought was wow, when framed that way, why would you ever roll out? Keep the d guessing.

On second thought, maybe more rollouts are exactly what Tyler needs to simplify his reads and make quicker decisions? 

I’m not a coach either and I have no idea what the right move is, but found it thought provoking.

@onlyU is our conduit to the coaches (or, maybe he is a coach….) I am certain he takes notes and reports it all back to the coaches, I mean, why wouldn’t they want to hear our input 🙂

i think one of the offenses major issues is actually too many quick hitters/passes. We’ve become very predictable and not enough of our plays get a chance to fully develop because the quick pass is taken

Funny. Other than some outs I’ve not seen much if any quick slants.

I think the quick slants have been where we’ve had the most drops. The media crew should play the Chris Berman Whoop every time we have a drop at this point.
