Posted on his Instagram that he is in SLC today! Hell of an athlete and would love to have him at Utah in literally any capacity!

Do you think we’d pick him up as a QB again or have him as a WR like what we’ve said before he left to the portal?

Per Steve Bartle not necessarily a qb.

Sounds like he could be an emergency qb but they’d like him more as an athlete

He did say he is open to playing WR. I would imagine if he came back to Utah they would take a look at him as a backup QB, but he would probably see the field as a WR this year assuming Dampier doesn’t get injured.

I assume his skill set is better suited to Beck’s offense than Ludwig’s, so maybe he could be back up qb if needed.

I hope he decides to return as a WR. It would be nice to have an emergency QB with the number of QB injuries we have had lately.

Nate is hella fast for sure. It would be interesting if he returned. Didn’t he kind of burn some bridges? Or was that mainly with Ludwig?

I seem to remember wishing he would become a slot receiver / WR.

All I’m going to say is that Nate Johnson is a dangerous player with the ball in his hands in an open field. He has the innate ability to anticipate tackles and make defenders miss. If he wants to ever see the field again, he needs to leave Vanderbilt and come back to Utah as an athlete. Last I checked, Vandy had like 6-7 QBs on its roster and Nate basically never played a down last season.

Bartle just posted this on X

      Former QB Rumor

Anybody know what former QB (not Johnson) he might be talking about?

I went through Utah’s roster since 2019 and the only player who would qualify is Jackson. But he was a RS-SR last year for Arkansas so I don’t know how he’d get another year.

But that would be huge for us if Jackson got another year and came back. Absolutely massive.

Didn’t necessarily say they were a QB for us right? How about Covey hanging them up to come home and coach? Long shot ha ha.

He seems like he would be a great coach if he decides to go that route one day.

Knowing Bartle, this is intentionally vague and he likes to play puzzle games.

So given that, every star athlete is essentially the QB in high school. So we could be talking about a safety that was a high quality QB, a safety, DB, RB or WR. Literally any key athlete.

Hell, even Kruger was a QB in high school

        Hahaha.

There were hints dropped elsewhere that it’s a QB who left the program more recently than Nate Johnson or Bryson Barnes or Mack Howard….

which means there’s only three potential options

        1. Cam Rising: Could see this, that he comes back for another year. Think someone here mentioned his locker was set back up

        2. Isaac Wilson: I’ve heard a few mention here that he’s more likely to return than was initially anticipated. Given his injury, he may not be getting the interest he’d like

        3. Brandon Rose: Haven’t heard anything, but he’s stuck around through tough times before, so not an impossibility

I think it’s Wilson looking to come back, just from what I’ve seen online. I’m thinking he’s not getting the interest he thought he would in the transfer portal.

Poetry that rivals Shakespeare or Whitman… 📝📝📝

And I’ll add I think it would be good for him and the program. He can get some actual QB coaching (Lud was not good) and sit and learn from Dempier/Beck. Hell, if he beats out Dempier, then we would be in great shape.

Oh, hell no. Let’s not make the same mistake yet again making an unproven and known practice hero a starter based on, in Jim Mora’s words, practice?!

IW spends time learning, watching and applying what he’s learned in practice and garbage time. After a year he can compete for a starting role again, but not this next year.

I think we all prefer this rumored player would be Rose, who apparently shows better in real games than in practice or in playbook quizzes.

You mean Wilson isn’t getting that $1M NIL deal from an SEC School?!

What?!? A QB who had time to throw, WR’s open and yet didn’t throw the ball?

OR when he did throw the ball, it was wildly inaccurate?

Who knew SEC teams would want a QB to be able to complete a dump off to a RB before they tossed millions at them?

        Weird.
