If we hire someone like Dirk Koetter or Dan Mullen, that tells me Whit plans on staying for another year or two and wants a mercenary to help right the ship quickly for one last ride. If we hire one of the younger guys who have been rumored, I will expect a follow up announcement of Whittingham’s retirement.
This makes a lot of sense, Thunder. My gut tells me Whitt won’t go out this way. He would obsess about this abysmal season for the rest of his life. It he stays, I have to wonder if it opens up Scalley to being poached? This is going to be one crazy week.
You make a good point UteThunder! Either way, Whitt better not adamantly object or interfere with any creative ideas Scalley may have to improve the offense or we will all see a repeat of 2024.
