Central Coast UteParticipant
3 star RB recruit from Texas. Apparently he’s playing behind the #1 recruit in the nation, otherwise he’d likely be rated higher. Either way, I’m stoked. I love Texas kids.

Wilmore and Brumfield are going to make a nice one two punch next season.
-
RustyShacklefordParticipant
Does this mean we aren’t going to get Hubbard?
-
OnlyuParticipant
Yes. Only taking 1 RB in this class. Gentry was the best fit and the guy they wanted. Powell will be next.
-
UtahParticipant
Gentry is stupid fast and wildly underrated. WILDLY.
-
RustyShacklefordParticipant
Playing behind the #1 running back in the nation will do that haha. If Utah chose this kid over some higher ranked kids they must think he’s going to be special.

*stupid fast….I like the sound of that

Who is Powell

I’m confused (or I just don’t understand recruiting websites). That link says he’s committed to Baylor and currently enrolled there. What am I missing?
-
McGParticipant
Looks like he enrolled early to Baylor but entered the transfer portal. I assume we are looking at him for QB?
-
-
RickParticipant
I don’t like tall running backs. 6’2″ is too tall for me. Baylor can have him.
-
-
-
McGParticipant
Why would we limit to 1 RB in the class? Seems like depth would be important down the road.
-
mfaulk80Participant
Was depth a concern this year? We lose Moss, but gain Gentry. And we will have RS freshman, Micah Bernard.
-
McGParticipant
Not an issue at all this year, shouldn’t be an issue next year, but give it 2-3 years and it could be. I get if the other recruits aren’t up to our standards or aren’t a good fit, but it seems silly to me to say we’ll only take 1 RB for 2020.

He reminds me of Booker but more breakaway speed.

Nothing creates great players like competition.
-
UteHorn21Participant
Funny thing is he’s probably just as good as Evans. That kid has bust written all over him. He turtles up in big games and has a terrible attitude.

I noticed Marsh decommitted as well…
-
Central Coast UteParticipant
We talked about Marsh uncouple days ago. There’s more info on him on the next page. Like OnlyU said, Powell is next so QB is set.
-
UtesbyfiveParticipant
Powell is a 4* Dual threat from Permian HS in Odessa, TX. (Permian Panthers anyone?) Committed to Texas, decommitted. Enrolled at Baylor 2019, and put in for transfer. 2020 would be his second year of eligibility, but I don’t know what his red-shirt status is.
-
PhiladelphiaUteParticipant
Texas to Baylor to [ next ]??? Sounds kinda flakey to me. And he’s grossly undersized for the position. Great high school resume though.

Gotta say…..Darvon Hubbard looked like the better back to me.
At any rate, whichever coach who’s responsible for “Texas” recruiting, is really crushing it. Out of the 6 kids we have committed right now, 5 of them are from Texas.
The other guy is from Hawai’i.
Our CA and SEC-country recruiters (LA-MS-AL-FL-GA corridor) gotta step it up…
GO UTES!!!
