What’s the next feature or bug fix you would like to see here? I haven’t done much changing to the site or adding features since adding the predict the score contest because, frankly, the site kicks ass at this point.
The bug list is here: http://www.utehub.com/bugs/

I would say a way to notify a poster if someone replied to their post in the upper right. I don’t ever go past the first page. If there was a way to know that someone posted to your topic that was older.
Also, a way to follow a thread, then you would get the notification, but you wouldn’t have to necessarily post in the thread to follow it.
Hope that makes sense.
All in all, this place is very, very nice. Thank you!

If you go to a regular forum post (not the home page) you can sub to thread. It’s at the bottom: “Notify me of follow-up replies via email.”
I’ve had a lot of problems with email because the site was sending out so many and lots of users had fake emails or emails that no longer worked, and getting 1000’s of bounces. The site’s IP got banned by a few email providers like hotmail. So I’m not big on lots of emails going out at this point trying to get the site’s emails not being blacklisted.

A way to edit a post without having to open it back up.

For some reason “paste” doesn’t work for me in the text composer. It only works for links or block quotes (Chrome on Windows). Those are the most useful places for paste, but sometimes it’d be useful in regular text while composing/recomposing a post.
I noticed you would post the time of next basketball game, might include other sports; know there is some automation that can be applied.

“paste” doesn’t work for me in the text composer.
That’s a new one. Never heard that before. What does “doesn’t work” mean exactly? What happens or doesn’t happen?
-
PlainsUteParticipant
Normally to paste I right-click to get a menu that includes the option. If I right click in the composition frame I only get the usual browser options like “View Page Source”. If I select some text I do get the option to copy on right-click. As I type this I realize I never tried Ctrl-V.
So here goes: I never tried Ctrl-V. So that is the solution: use keyboard options. Also, I just discovered if I type some dummy characters, (no, I mean besides my usual dumb content) I can select the dummy text and past option appears which will replace the dummy characters with the clipboard contents. So pasting itself is not broken, the right click menu is not quite right.

Sounds like you need to click into the text area and activate it first before you can paste.

PlainsUteParticipant
Tried that, but now that I know a work-around you can close this ticket.

I would install Grammarly: https://www.grammarly.com/

I visit another website that pushes the latest post with the latest replies to the top of the list. Only the starting post, subject, poster, date, and number of replies is listed. You have to click on the subject to see the content of the starting post and all the replies. The full content of all replies are shown from oldest to latest.
This way you can easily screen through the main posts and only click on what looks interesting to you. The posts with the most activity are not buried.

@bleedsredute you can achieve a large portion of what you are describing here by customizing your view of the home page. Click “hide replies” at the top. All posts are listed from newest to oldest. Click “more” to expand the full text of the posts. Click “Show Replies” to see the replies of each post. In this view you can quickly see all the topics and not have to scroll for miles, only opening up topics that interest you.

BleedsRedUteParticipant
Thanks, that helps quite a bit. But the main feature of what I described is that the post with the latest reply is pushed to the top. This way the post with latest activity, regardless of how old the original beginning post is, is pushed to the top and not buried. So the more interesting, controversial, etc., subjects are kept at the forefront.
Hope I am describing it ok.

I totally get what you’re saying. That’s the closest the front page gets. You CAN go to the Forum menu > recent posts (here: https://www.utehub.com/recent-posts/) and that shows the lastest activity, even commens.

BleedsRedUteParticipant
Ok. Thanks for what you do!
