ParticipantDo you think this is a good thing? Or is it Beck slowly but surely starting to adjust to Whit’s ball control play calling.
I don’t say it is a good or bad thing yet, but I felt like Beck was brought in with his QB to run his style of offense.
I don’t say that ball control is a bad thing, just would like to see Beck’s Offense installed and tried before too many adjustments are made to utilize players abilities that were left over from last year.
I would like to see a bigger back like Andrews for third and fourth down short yardage plays.

ParticipantI get the concern but it can just as easily be JB utilizing the talent he has around him. This was our criticism of Ludwig, he didn’t tailor “his offense” to the individuals he had. I want to believe and it very well could be Beck embracing this mentality.

ParticipantBeck and Dampier have both said that the nice thing about this offense is they can adjust it to the strengths of the team. Beck said that very early on.
It’s a tired notion that Whit controls the O. No one with any credibility has stated that.

ParticipantAs has already been stated, we don’t know what Beck and Whit are doing behind the scenes. The truth is, having great tight ends is amazing for any offense. They create a mismatch for linebackers and safeties trying to defend them, and if they are great tight ends, they’ll be able to block well for running plays. Over the last 15-20 years, we’ve seen the dominant teams in the NFL heavily utilize tight end play. If you have them, you better use them.

ParticipantFor a few years there, it felt like Lud was going to commit to a TE heavy offense…not sure what happened. Kuithe (before we went down last season) should have been a huge security blanket for IW/whomever was playing QB, but it felt like he was rarely given a chance. The rest of the TE room was largely ignored and/or had a tough time making the catch when they were targeted. Given the success of Kinkaid and Kuithe during the Rising years, the lack of TE recruiting felt like a huge lost opportunity.
