Granted they lost 33-7, but it was a 3-0 game at half on the road. Their ofense was indeed bad. They only got 211 yards of offense. (Keep in mind that Iowa had a pretty food defense last season. They held PSU to 21 points and MSU to 17.) NIU’s defense was on the field all day long and only gave up 353 yards. Considering that their offense did not help them at all with TOP, the defense holding Iowa to 353 yards was not bad. They played Iowa very tough the first half and the defense wore down in the end and that’s expected. Iowa only averaged 4.4 yards per rush and 5.7 per pass. Those are not good averages.
So, with our defense holding Weber to 59 yards and NIU’s offensive struggles – we should be able to contain them. However, on offense – we will have some challenges IMO. Should we win big? Yes, I think we should. But, I don’t think it will be a high scoring game (maybe 27-10). It depends if we get the turnover issues resolved. Remember this is a road game for us and a home opener for them.
Go Utes!!!

You have to score generally more than 21-30 to beat Utah. I think Utah offense can get to 30-35 at least. I have zero worries about NIU getting to 30 or even 20.

I believe niu was playing without a few starters that were suspended. With that said, even at full strength I see a 20 + point win. Predicted 30+ on here against Weber. Was expecting a -15 line. Very surprised to see it open at -10 (already to -11)

yup! I’m in at 10.5 and feel very good about it.

A local sports guy (Hans?) said NIU has a D lineman better than Bradlee Anae. I don’t know if that’s true but if so, our O-line better be ready.
-
ChidojuanParticipant
If he’s talking about Sutton Smith, he is most assuredly NOT better than Anae. He’s a great disruptor and pass rusher, but he’s smaller and shorter than Anae. He might have better stats playing agains MAC teams, but no way he is better. I can definitely see him getting the better of our OL on a handful of plays, but not many. Their DL is on the smaller side, similar to Arizona, maybe a little bigger, and with less overall speed. They got pushed around a lot against Iowa, and I can see us performing well against them. Moss will punish them as well.

17-14 Utes, in a ugly mistake riddeled kwhitt game.

“a” is used before words that start with a consonant sound and “an” is used before words that start with a vowel sound.
Examples: 17-14, in AN ugly mistake riddled kwhitt game.

Not to come to his defense , but the a or an is actually tied to the subject word, in this case game, so a is correct. Even though it sounds wierd.

Incorrect: it’s the sound of the word following the a/an indefinite article

( a unicorn an umbrella an ugly an historic monument)

Who cares? The fact is that you have to be a total jackass to correct someone’s grammar because you don’t like their opinion and are too lazy or too stupid to craft a decently crafted counter point.
-
ironman1315Participant
I assume this isn’t meant for me as I wasn’t correcting grammar.
As to the stupid or lazy, he provided no argument as to why. So I’ll make mine just like his, no supporting argument, Utah wins 28-0. Boom equally legitimate baseless opinion.
Further, he’s a troll. He does nothing but downgrade Utah at all times. He gloats when they lose or are losing then disappears when they’re winning. If he actually provided insight, like ute thunder with whom I disagree but respect because he backs it up, I’d probably have a different opinion.

I’ll be sure to tell that to my Ute season ticket holder Dad, my brothers with under grad and grad degrees from the U, my sister with a degree from the U, my BIL with two degrees from the U, and my mother who loves the U that we’re all Zoob fans. It’ll come as a bit of a shock, but if some internet troll says so I guess we must concede. Damn.

UtMtBikerParticipant
I don’t think he’s a troll but you’re fandom is clearly secured.
-
ironman1315Participant
What leads you to believe he isn’t a troll? He’s 100% negative 100% of the time. I am certain Utah could win the national championship and he will still p**s and moan.

There is always a little bit of truth in your comments that nearly get me to up vote. I could see this but don’t think it’s likely.

I believe we will see a far better Utah team, even if the score is a little closer. Defense will shine again, but with a take-way, perhaps a pick-six or two on the edges. The offense and special teams, no more than one turnover between them. Utah 45, NIU 17.
