Participantkyle retiring is not surprising and if we’re being honest with ourselves, probably a good time for him to do so.

ParticipantSo, PK, may I assume this will be the subject of one of your upcoming “hack job” articles?

ParticipantMaybe I’m naive but I’m not buying it. He’s said all along he doesn’t see him self coaching into his late 60’s. But I’m not expecting a revelation this soon. The sources I saw were questionable to me anyways. If it were coming from Brown or Bartle I’d listen otherwise, I feel like there’s nothing to see here.

ParticipantI wish:
– Kyle would find the desire and fire to coach two more seasons with a strong desire to win the PAC12 before leaving.
– Utah hires Scalley to be the new head coach.
– Covey plays a role in Utah’s future coaching staff.
– I would love to get Steve Smith and his fiery personality here at Utah, but that’s a long shot.
– I want Weddle to be our D coordinator, but that’s also a long shot.

ParticipantI mean this isn’t really news. Their source is a podcast with 2 Utah “analysts” whose qualifications match all of ours here on this board–they’re just big fans who are speculating. I guess we’re all analysts then. Maybe someone will start writing stories about my takes now??
But to the news of Kyle nearing retirement, anyone who’s followed the program over the last several years knows Whitt has been considering retirement. The general consensus I’ve seen is that he desparately wants to win the PAC and is going to give it a go with this current core for the next 2-3 years. But he could easily decide to hang it up at any time. Who knows?
I personally would not call it “drama” like the headline does.

ParticipantI mean when it said “the reports came from ‘analysts’ at the ‘No Truck Stops” Podcast I knew this was a fake ass rumor. Those guys are literally 20 year old college students with zero insider sources lol.
With that being said, it won’t be surprising if Whitt retires within the next few years, but there’s a reason no one is picking up on that rumor because those “analysts” are just a couple of Gen Zs spewing s**t out of their mouths for content – exactly the same thing I do on my show.

ParticipantThis. The “no truck stops” podcast is a couple of Utah and UCLA fans that met on twitter. They are amateurs, all they do is speculate and BS on a podcast.

ParticipantKyle has at least a few years left and almost certainly this will be his last coaching gig. A Utah man until he dies.

ParticipantHeard Hans and Scotty talking about this. Scotty said someone they both know called him and told him it’s a done deal although he didn’t name this person. They then went on to say that sometimes agents put this type of thing out there to try and help their clients out. They said they don’t buy it. At this point in Whitts life and with his current contract, he has no need to go anywhere.
