Incidentally there is much more parity between Utah and byu-P now in terms of SAT/ACT scores and grades of the incoming Freshmen students. Expansion of UVU and WSU into the #1 and #2 biggest schools in the state took a out lot of the lower-scoring students in the matrix at the U. Utah and byu-P are now very close in stats.
But besides, all that metric was ever good for was showing how good a student was in High School. It never said anything about how well a student would perform, or learn, or grow, while on campus. And it didn’t factor in the actual opportunities to participate in ground-breaking research at a Tier-One research university.
And it doesn’t say anything about the quality of the graduate programs at the two schools, an area in which there is absolutely no comparison (outside of a few business programs and the Fine Art dept, where byu-P is very good nationally – at least if you are male…).
