Not sure what was visible on TV, but a few things that might not have been seen by those not at the championship game.

      – Dixon was very upset on the sidelines after the second to last Utah offensive series. And Shelley was pacing up and down the sideline nonstop. They both wanted this one very badly. They obviously got another series (and we know how that ended), but interesting to observe their emotions.

      – After the game, as the whole team went to sing Utah Man with the band and crowd, one player sat on the bench, alone: Mariner. I imagine the team rallied around him later, but he was very dejected (understandably).

      – Larry Scott was loudly booed by the entire stadium when he was announced to present the championship trophy.

      – Utah fans were loud and impressive (particularly as compared to the UW section).

      – Overall, it was a fun experience. Tough to lose on a fluke play like that.

Yep, Mariner sat on the bench alone after the game with his head in his hands. Agree it was fun, I’d go again next year if we win the South again (I think we will).

Boos were very audible on TV after the blown no-call and during the UW victory formation play.

The crowd pans were nearly exclusive on the Utah side, exceptions were closeups or the UW band.  Way to rep Utah fans!!

If I was guessing, I’d say Utah fans outnumbered UW fans 2-1. We were pretty loud, and I think would have been very loud had the team made something happen, score-wise.

There’s a clip going around the internets of Kyle going after the ref after the game. What wasn’t shown, apparently, was Kyle going after that ref right after the call and before Washington’s kneel-down snap to end the game. KW was 15 yards out on the field, with two other refs holding him back for a good 30 seconds. As a fan, I’d like to have seen Kyle take a penalty there, or even get ejected, just to draw more attention to the whole debacle.

I’ve seen a bunch of “that call didn’t decide the game” posts, but we can be sure of this – that call ENDED the game. And we can also be sure of something else – it was an egregiously missed call.

Watching Gay’s field goal drip just over the crossbar was my favorite highlight. We were in that corner and had a great angle. Not sure that’d have been good from a half-yard back.

It ended the game for sure. Even Jake Browning looked at the video board and mouthed: “No flag?”
