Well taking money from future install commitments to complete current installs.  Why am I not surprised?

Unreal.  What gets me more than the elaborate trips, obvious mismanagement and screwing all of these people over, is the fact that they have the cajones to continue to say their company is doing fine.

Yes, too bad the customers can’t go after BYU or Dixie State to get the generous donations they made to get those PR designations.  Consumer lesson: if someone is “official blah-blah” of whatever school or sports team it probably just means they made a big donation cash or in-kind to whichever entity.  I wonder if BYU ever got their promised solar array?

I’m all in favor of making mankind’s activities on the planet a little more eco-friendly.  But seems the solar industry has a lot of rather unsavory characters involved.  Don’t get me started on how many sales calls I’ve received trying to sell me panels for my home (and always from the same couple of companies).  This is something we may do a in a few years, but we’re working on finishing a few other projects right now.

I’ve done and owned businesses in a lot of western states. Utah is shady as hell. It’s shocking. In order for me to do business with a Utah based company, they have to prove a lot more than companies from other states before I’ll work with them.

And if they are LDS AND push that as part of their business…that’s a deal breaker. I’ve never once done business with someone that used their affiliation with the Mormon church as a selling point who wasn’t just scum.

I’m not sure where your comments regarding LDS come from, but there certainly wasn’t anything in the article that described the owners as LDS.  I get that I am in the minority on this board being and LDS guy and I’m not offended at all with your comment (political correctness these days is a joke).  Just weird that you brought religion into all when there was no mention of religion anywhere in the article.

Yes, I understand the BYU is a religious institution, but this article was written from a business perspective and included donations to BYU, Portland Trail Blazers and Dixie State.

I don’t think he’s saying anything about whether or not the business is run by LDS people…I think what he’s saying is that people who are flaunting their LDS-ness when doing business are almost always up to no good. And as an LDS person, I agree with him. When someone says “hey, I’m LDS…you can trust me”, that screams to me that I can’t trust them. I know it’s just a ploy to get me to let my guard down.

I agree with you. I guess I must have taken his comment out of context. My bad.

I get where you are coming from and I may have jumped to conclusions with the talking about BYU donations, etc.

That being said, my point was not that LDS people are bad. I’m LDS, my family is, etc. My point is people that use that as a reason why they are good…watch out for that. That is a big red flag. “My stake president is such a good person and they want me to invest here…” Is a HUGE red flag. I’d advise to not work with that person.

And I’d bet it could be said for any person that uses God in any way to further their business dealings is probably closer to scum than God.

I’m glad you noticed because I didn’t want to have to say it. 😉

Many of you know I work for the U, and a big part of my job is entering into business deals with private companies on behalf of the U. As always, some deals end up good and some end up bad. But the worst deal I’ve seen as part of my tenure here involved one of “those” LDS persons. I’m glad I wasn’t the one who got the U into that relationship…

As LDS as I am, laugh a sad laugh every time someone uses the, “I am lds,” “I hold such and such calling,” or “I have a temple recommend” as if any of those things make you morally superior.

If someone has to convince you of their moral character, that’s a bad sign

Is BYU business school just a place where douche bags go to learn how to conduct Ponzi schemes?
